When I spoke with PayPal Customer Care (after waiting like 1/2 hour) they (Joyce) did admit that it was PayPal that took out the money, and they were holding the money. They said I should reset my password for safety, but would not release the money they stole from me until I complete that lengthy process of "limited access" removal. I was at the NYPD police precinct this (yesterday) evening to file a complete report against PayPal. It does not matter than it is a company with several employees, the bottom line is that it is not spoof or hacking since both my bank and PayPal itself admit it was themselves, also, the debit to my bank account bears no mark of a seller ID which is supposed to be there to identify what was bought (nothing. This is really sad and my biggest fear is how many other people this is happening to simultaneously. This could total to millions of dollars or more if every few customers they stole $5000 ish.

I have received numerous emails from someone claiming to be Paypal, telling me that I needed to verify my account, or that I need to update my account. I also get emails like that from Ebay. I have forwarded these emails to [email protected] and they reply back (automated reply only) that the emails DID NOT come from them and that they are from someone trying to get me to give personal banking info so that they can steal my identity and money. I know that this doesn't help you right now, but I just wanted others out there to know that this is happening all the time. Anyone who has an Ebay account and/or a Paypal account is at risk. Supposedly, anytime that Paypal or Ebay sends you any correspondance, they will address you by your user name or by your full name...not by "Ebay Member" or "Paypal Member". Those are spoof emails. I have one of these emails in my inbox right now. I hope that you can get your bank to help you to resolve this. If this charge was made against your debit card, it should be a Visa or Mastercard. Ask your bank to dispute the charges and they will do a chargeback. Then whoever made the charge will have to show proof of their claim to the money. Please do this ASAP as you only have so long to make the dispute. I hope you can get this resolved! Good Luck!!

OK, first the information that they're asking for is illegal for ANYONE to ask for much less a PayPal company. The best thing you can do is to contact the FTC via their site at www.ftc.gov, they will send you an attached email as to what to do next and your options. Good Luck!
