PC Smart Care PC Smart Care is a SCAM California and India Nationwide
Today i was trying to update the firmware on my dlink router. I goggled tech support and i found a phone number 1 800 356 2429 which i thought it was dlink support. My question to the tech was. " i am trying to update the firmware on my dlink router and i cannot log into my router. 192.168.0.1 would not work. He tells me i have network issues and he needs into my pc". I think it was RescueMe is the program he used. Against my better judgement i let him in and he does a few test and says i have malware on my computer which is what the issue is. I have an uneasy feeling the whole time because something just doesn't seem right. then i heard people talking in the back ground "Hey man what's up" which made me feel like this was not legit. So he sends me to another support guy who is going to help me. he downloads a free version of malwarebytes anti-malware software. He says thats my problem. Then he asked me if they fixed my problem and i told him my problem was that i just could not log into my dlink router. i Watched him type 10.10.10.1 to log into my router. Bam i just had the address wrong. Where did all this malware stuff come from? All the other guy had to say from the start was you were typing the wrong address. But no, he says you owe us $150 and i refused to pay because i realized what my gut was telling me is i just got scammed. Then my computer restarts and evidently he used ransomware to hold my computer hostage till i paid? i found that file and deleted it but pc smart care was the company (phone1-855-569-5945) i had to pay for this interaction but my biggest concern is this is my business computer and i tried to log into my Quickbooks and my information was gone. I had to restore a back up file. Did they take it ? Did they leave a backdoor in my PC? Are my CC#s, SSN and EIN floating around the internet? That is what is going through my head right now. I Usually don't write reviews but i think this should be known.
