I ordered a retractable cable to connect my Handspring Edge PDA to my computer for charging and data synching. Here is the description of the product from the invoice:

TTX Retractable sync and charge cable for Visor Edge (ttxcbl01080)  The shipping charge was over twice the price of the cable, but I couldn't find a similar item elsewhere so I paid it. The product was shipped quickly and it arrived in four days.
There was no way that the connector that should have plugged into my Edge would fit. I emailed customer service and was directed to return the cable at my expense. When I protested that I'd already paid a premium for the shipping charge for a product that didn't match the description or the product photo that was on their website, I received the following reply:

Dear customer
Please check you have ordered the correct model.We sent you is what you ordered.
Thanks.


This was my reply (sans photos):

I have checked! I sent you the model number on the packaging I received. It matches the number on your website for a product that is described as a cable that will plug into a Visor Edge to synch and charge it. The cable I received doesn't look like the photo on your site and it won't plug into a Visor Edge. There was only one model of Visor Edge manufactured. If the cable isn't compatible with it, it's not the right cable. A mistake has been made. It's your mistake and not mine. I ordered the cable in good faith that the product would perform as you described. It doesn't. This is fraud, which is a crime. And now you want me to pay for return shipping when the error is clearly yours.Making mistakes is human. But it's how you correct your mistakes that separates the mediocre and fraudulent companies from the great ones. Review the photos I sent yesterday and the ones I'm attaching to this message:

1. Photo of the cable that appears on your website.
2. Photo of the cable I received. (This cable doesn't match the photo on your website.)
3. Invoice showing the product number for the sync and charge cable for a Visor Edge.
4. Product code on the cable's package, which matches the number listed on your web site and on the invoice.

After you look at these photos, review your product description at http://www.pdapreferred.com/ttx-retractable-sync-and-charge-cable-for-visor-edge-ttxcbl01080-.html. If you can satisfactorily explain how I am responsible for the wrong cable being sent, I will pay for return shipping. If you can't, I expect you to cover the expense for return shipping AND to provide me with a timely refund.


Here is the response I received:

Dear customer
Please return back do replace another one for you.


I responded that I did not have any faith I would receive the right cable and I wanted a refund for the product and my shipping charges both ways. I received this more articulate message:  Shipping charges are not refundable in any situation. The customer is solely responsible for shipping any returned product to Gizmos2Go.com, including defective products.
I decided not to throw good money after bad so I can't address whether I would have received a refund. Smart customers are advised to shop elsewhere.
