Peace of Mind relocation uses every trick in the book to gain your trust and business---but BEWARE!!!! POM failed to delivery furnishings and goods within a specific time for which they were contracted. I needed my belongings by a certain date and they guaranteed it, however when the contract arrived, it gave a longer grace period for which I was told to make the notes of the guaranteed date and signe the "ammended agreement". I did and they proceed to schedule movers accepted payment based on these terms to guarantee the shipment within the period they specified 2/8/2012.

 

Beginning February 6-9th, POM did not respond to my repeated calls, text and email inquiries as to the status of my shipment. I contacted them repeatedly as to the status of the move and to remind them of our agreed delivery date and my impending business trip on the 10th.

 

Here is where they begin to set stage for holding  your goods hostage:

On the evening of the 11th, a Saturday night I was contacted  via text message that the furniture had arrived in Austin and was to be delivered PAID IN CASH on Sunday the 12th, already 5 days past the agreed delivery date without advanced warning when all banks were closed.

 

Consumer Fraud:

1.      I advised they were in breach to the terms and I would need them to store my goods using the free 1 month storage Michelle promised me verbally as well as on the agreement. Upon speaking with POM, Natalie responded that that I would be responsible for storage fees stating that storage does not apply in Texas.  However, Nowhere in the contract does it confine territories. This promise was made repeatedly to reassure we would have the option to store the belongings at NO COST if we chose to do so if  I needed to leave prior to the 8th.

 

2.      POM fraudulently identified themselves as movers. However the driver when attempting to add additional charges to an already binding agreement which stated and included the costs of stairs, said he did not work for the company but was a hired contractor and his fees are different from what was contracted.

 

3.      POM did not return repeated inquiries to status of my belongings nor prepare me in advance for obtaining a large amount of cash until 7pm Saturday night long BANKS WERE CLOSED when I could have arranged a family member to meet a driver if there was notice or return calls the many days prior. The cash balance was to be $360.00 of an overall $2014.95 but the driver called and stated his fee in addition to this would be additional $500 more for stairs even though it was already included in the binding agreement so the balance would be 860.00 which is even higher than the ATM limits.

 

4.      The FINAL binding agreement signed in writing, and accepted such terms by POM through  payment followed by scheduling, and further for the goods to be picked up. Essential to the contract was POM expressly agreed to delivery date of no later than February 8, 2012. POM agreed to my delivery date knowing I intented to use another company if they could not comply.

 

 

Extortion by POM:

I was contacted by the driver of the truck, who advised that he was not notifed there were "stairs" as opposed to elevator, and that this would cost me an additional $500.00. However, notice of stairs at the delivery place was given to mover prior to pickup, and was included in the price on the binding agreement. The delivery man denied his requirement to abide by any mover contract stating I would be responsible for a "re-delivery fee" of $700.00 in addtion to the assessed fees.

 

There has been no communication or responses to demands and inquiries from the mover as to where my goods are located. I have been without my furniture, clothes, business documents, or household goods for 25 days.

When I asked the mover where they intended to store my furniture, clothes, household goods, business papers, and especially the urns containing the ashes of my recently deceased parents, and they refused to tell me.

Despite repeated emails, demands, text messages and phone calls, to this date, March 4, 2012, move has failed and refused to respond and I have no knowledge where they are holding my items hostage. I have had to incur costs to purchase clothes and household items. I was told by the mover on the 11th in a phone call that if  argued in any way as to who was to pay for storage, that it was possible that some of my belongings, including the Urns of my beloved parents, "might accidentally be dropped and destroyed".

This company has an F rating with the BBB.  The problem is that they have cleverly registered their company in Houston Texas as well and have been given an A rating.

When you google "peace of mind relocation BBB" the A rating in Houston comes up and the F rating in Santa Barbra is no where to be found.  The company is located in Los Angeles.  The following is the link to the F rating.

I would also just like to make this point.  How many of you go on the internet and write a good review for a company, especially a moving company.  Most people expect good service, and when you get it you don't feel the need to write reviews on the net.    It is only when you have a bad experience that most people are compelled to take the time to get on the internet and write a review, so that you can warn others, that they won't be screwed like you were.  That being said I would suggest that most good reviews written on the net are composed by the business themselves trying to counter the damage done by the bad reviews.  Take them with a grain of salt.  Just sayin......
