I bought a used car, a 2003 Buick LeSabre I saw advertised on the Pensacola Honda website, site unseen. The car was originally located in Montgomery, AL, but the reason they advertised the car on their website is because they were willing to relocate the car for a small fee for the final sale. I decided to put faith that the car was from a reputable dealer and that their on-site service department would check over the car thoroughly before sale.

I was wrong.

I bought the car and the engine looked well. I even decided to get an extended powertrain warranty on the vehicle, but it only ensures the engine and transmission. No other warranties were offered to me at the time of sale. Two days after I bought the car it begins to overheat. I cannot drive the car 10 miles without steam billowing from underneath the engine.

I called the dealership, and repeatedly they refuse to service me. They begin the "as is" chant over and over again. They do not stand behind their service department, and as their new car sales manager quoted "they just look at the engine, run it around the block a few times, and then sell it." Their service department at Pensacola Honda apparently does not do thorough testing, nor do they ensure that the car is in 100% extended working order before they sell it. I am now stuck with a car that cannot drive me to work, let alone an extended trip to see my family. Since it's cooling system is the problem, my warranty will not cover damage to the radiator or surrounding components.

In short, Pensacola Honda in Pensacola, Florida sold me a lemon. I will likely have to spend several more hundred dollars on a car that has already cost me $8,000 after final sale.

Additional Information:

July 29, 2010 - I bought the car

July 30, 2010 - Car was picked up from the dealership.

August 1, 2010 - Car begins to overheat

August 3, 2010 - I call the dealership. They will not stand behind the car that was sold 3 days prior.

August 4, 2010 - Car goes into mechanic to be repaired. $100 deductible to be paid, and that is only if it is covered by warranty.

I am still awaiting word from my mechanic as of today (August 4, 2010). I do understand that the car was sold as is, but it remains infuriating that the car did not last a week from a Honda certified used car dealership. I am writing this report in the hope that others, before they buy a car from this dealer, will thoroughly check the car before it is driven off the lot. They do not stand behind their used cars.

Any advice or help will always be appreciated.
