Pimsleur Marketplace claims to have a buy-back program to allow return of now or used comprehensive language courses with a charge-back, credit,or check for $100, less a nominal amount for damaged merchandise.  I purchased a Comprehensive Russian course from them for $139.90.  The Pimsleur Marketplace web page indicated that almost all returned products would receive the full $100 refund.  When the product arrived, 3 of the 16 CDs had scratches so I followed various written instructions and tried to contact them by telephone. 

A message said to leave my phone number and I would receive a return call shortly.  Never happened!  Even after 2 tries.  Later, before a complaint deadline, I faxed and emailed the Pimsleur Marketplace buy-back program.  Still no response (to either).  I recently filled out the buy-back return request and UPS'd the CD set back for a credit card charge-back of $100.  Nothing yet, but still hoping.  It looks a lot like this whole program is a sham designed to bilk consumers out of their dollars.  I will be certain of this in another week, but it is not looking good at this time.

i've used this company in Ammon Idaho twice for purchases of German Pimsleur courses and have had absolutely no problem the first time around.  It was exactly as stated, the on-line submission forms were easy to download and fill out.  I am sending my second purchase back today for the buy back and if it goes as well will update.  Based on my initial experience I can absolutely assure customers this is NOT a scam.

I heard a lot of fear in the author's post that she had been scammed. I too feared that I wouldn't receive the refund when I sent in my courses (especially after reading 2 ripoff reports), but decided that since I had already saved all of the files as MP3s, I had little to lose.

I did NOT create a ripoff report and still received $300 from Pimsleur Marketplace (2 courses of Arabic and 1 of Hebrew). So I write this to say that MY experience was that they kept to the dates and procedures listed on their website (http://pimsleurmarketplace.com/the_buy_back_program) and I received my refund check, as expected.

I submit my experience here so that others don't think that everyone has to create a ripoff report to get their refund.

This was the email that the customer sent to our company on 10/30/12 (Name Removed):

 Gentlermen,

 I ordered a used copy of your Pimsleur Russian II Comprehensive course and received it on October 17,
2012.  It was my intention to take advantage of the $100 Buy-back offer after I had reviewed the course.  The CD set I received was useable, but had 3 significantly scratched CDs (CDs 4, 6, and 8) and one slightly marked CD
(CD 12).  I would like to get a verification number so that this is not deducted from my $100 credit when I return the course.  I tried to contact you via your contact link a few days after receiving the course, but received no response.  I am also currently waiting for a return of my telephone call to your company, with no return call as yet.  Please provide a
verification number via email to me [email removed] or via telephone [phone number removed] and I will return the CD set forthwith for a credit for a more appropriate level of course material.  The invoice number is [number removed] , for CD set delivered on October 17, 2012.  Thanks for your assistance.

The customer's course was received by us and the $100 refund was applied to the customer's credit card. 
We have record of 2 phone messages which were not responded to because the email was answered by James.
The customer has not left any voice messages since that time. 
There was no issue with the playability of the course that was sent to the customer nor was the Buy Back refund affected in the slightest.  The full refund that was promised to the customer was $100.  That refund has been issued, Transaction ID (6FG531778R044093C).

There is absolutely nothing about our company that is scamming or dishonest.  It would appear that this customer has issues with patience and would prefer to contact Ripoff Report rather than us to resolve this issue.  For additional credibility, please refer to our other ripoff reports in which MANY customers have posted that there is absolutely no problem with the Buy Back Program.

Our company has an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau.  This customer was promised a used course that works and was promised a $100 refund when he returns the course.  All that was promised has been done.

If the customer continues to have issues, he is more than welcome to contact me directly to have those issues addressed.
