Tips are taxable...!

I worked for a franchise and a corp store, and yes they can take reported tips and tax them as part of your income.  If you are making 6.25 an hour, as you stated, then your tips should be enough to make up the difference to bring you to minimum wage, and that is why you are supposed to claim all your tips.  If you are also talking about credit card tips, then that is part of your income, and that is what they are taxing.

Example: you have 3 deliveries in 1 hour, you make that 6.25 for driving, and then a credit card tip of 5.00, and 4.00 and then a cash tip of 5.00, you have made 20.25 for that hour.  In that money "the company" only knows about the hourly wage and the credit card tips, they don't know about the cash tip. unless you tell them, or have a tip log to sign. (I had the same problem at my first job ever, and then after that it all made since).  You REALLY need to keep a personal tip log, in case you are ever audited by IRS, and you question your paycheck again.  Remember, if you add your cash tips which you take home and the amount on the check, that is really your weekly pay.

As for not getting a promotion, at Pizza Hut, drivers don't get them, only if a shift leader or MGMT job open up and you apply.  If you work for a corp store, they do offer classes, which is what I did, I went from server-asst manager in 6 months.
