Please read this before ordering from Planet Mobility. On June 16th My father, ordered a power lift to transport his mobile wheelchair on the back of his van. The total cost was $1,712.00

When it did not arrive as promised he called Planet Mobility. They told him the lift had been damaged in transit and they would have to send another. Now after all that has transpired I would bet that was a lie.

Finally on June 27th the lift arrived in the Atlanta area. It was not going to be delivered by Old Dominion Freight Line until July 1, so my husband drove to the freight line to pick it up.

On Saturday June 28th when my husband went to install the lift he discovered that it had been shipped without the hitch adapter or the swing away part. We called Planet Mobility and the lady who answered said she would have Mike Woods call us back that day. He never did.

On Monday, June 30th we called Planet Mobility again to inform them we were missing two items. They said they would send them. The next shipment arrived by UPS and it was the swing away without the hitch adapter.

They promised to send the hitch adapter on Tuesday for delivery on Thursday. When we called for a tracking number on Wednesday, they could not provide one. We called on Thursday only to find out it had not been shipped on Tuesday. We were told it went out on Wednesday for delivery on Monday July 7th.

We insisted that they send a hitch adapter out that day with over night to us. Mike Woods called Fed Ex to make sure they could do a Saturday delivery, since Friday was a holiday. He said they could and it was going to cost him $80 but we would get it on Saturday. Mike Woods told us to call back in an hour for a tracking number. We called back and spoke with a lady who said Mike was busy and she knew nothing about a Fed Ex shipment. She said she would check with Mike and someone would call us back with a tracking number. No one did. Several hours later we called again for the tracking number and Maggie said she did not have it but to call the next morning for it. When we asked if they were going to be there on the holiday she assured us they would. We called, and they are closed until Monday.

This company does not know the meaning of customer service. They do take advantage of the elderly and flat out lie. They do not return phone calls. Beware, only use this company if you want a hassle!!!!

We have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and yes they do have a BBB membership, but that is a PAID MEMBERSHIP that anyone can purchase. It is not a reflection on how they do business.

THIS AL 500 LIFT WAS ORDERED FROM US ON JUNE 16TH. THE ORDER WAS SHIPPED OUT AND WE WERE THEN NOTIFIED BY THE SHIPPING COMPANY THAT THE UNIT WAS DAMAGED IN TRANSIT. PLANET MOBILITY THEN SHIPPED OUT A SECOND UNIT ON JUNE 23RD WITH OLD DOMINION FREIGHT LINES ON PRO #77709679581 QUOTED US 2 DAYS TRANSIT TIME FOR DELIVERY. THIS CUSTOMER WAS NOTIFIED BY OLD DOMINION THAT THEY COULD NOT COMPLY WITH THE TRANSIT TIME QUOTED TO PLANET MOBILITY. THE CUSTOMER CHOSE TO DRIVE TO THE ATLANTA LOCATION AS THEY NEEDED IT SOONER THAN THE ARRIVAL DATE GIVEN THEM BY OLD DOMINION. THE SWING AWAY JOINT AND THE HITCH ADAPTER WERE BACK ORDERED IN MICHIGAN. PLANET MOBILITY HAD THESE ITEMS EXPEDITED, AT OUR COST, FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO GET TO THE CUSTOMER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE RATHER THAN WAIT TIL THEY WERE IN STOCK IN MICHIGAN.

UPDATE: The hitch adapter arrived on Saturday July 5th. My husband had the powerlift installed in less than 2 hours. Until we had this part to attach the lift to the van it was useless. We cannot believe the number of phone calls that were not returned as promised. Even when the first lift was "damaged in transit". We called them to inquire, don't you think they would have called us when they had been notified by the shipper? I was not surprised to see a complaint in 2005 was responded to in 2008! What a way to run a business! And it looks like right before I entered my complaint another was entered from NY! Way to go Planet Mobility! And they say for every one customer that is dissatisfied and complains there are 20 more who do not and just walk away. I just wish I had found this Rip Off site sooner and not relied on the BBB seal that any business can "purchase". If Planet Mobility had told us we would not have our merchandise until July when it was ordered that would have been fine, we would have waited patiently. But to be lied to day after day and to not return phone calls is unacceptable. It is the poorest customer service I know. I hope this website saves at least one customer from ordering from Planet Mobility. I imagine it will do more. That will be my Customer Satisfaction!
