Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am a totally disabled senior and I needed a credit card for booking airline flights and car rentals for visits to my children. I have a debit card, but sometimes had difficulty using it for that purpose. I had applied on line and when the Platinum Advantage representative contacted me by phone I assumed it was in reference to my application. They indicated there would be a $200.00 fee but that it would be reimbursed in place of my first payment. They explained it was 9.8 percent interest on the unpaid balance, which I thought was reasonable and agreed to allow them to withdraw the $200.00 from my checking account. I didn't hear from them for quite awhile after the funds were withdrawn from my account, so I called them to inquire when I would receive my card. It was then they began to explain to me what the card actually was........a merchandise card to reestablish my credit. I explained to them that I was seriously ill and not interested in improving my credit, that I had been led to believe I would be receiving a credit card. I told them to cancel my account and return my $200.00. The rep with whom I talked, told me my case would have to go before a refund review board and that it would be thirty days before the decision would be made. I have now received my letter informing me that my refund was denied, but that I could reopen my account and use the free payment coupons toward any purchase of their merchandise.

I have no use for any of their cheap merchandise, nor do I need to reestablish my credit. I doubt that I shall live long enough to do so even if I needed too.

I realize that it is doubtful if I ever recoup my money. But, I wish to at least file this report to perhaps prevent anyone else from falling into the same trap.

I would be willing to answer any questions or join any class action suit against these characters.

Sorry for your loss of funds.

Sorry to hear that this company ripped you off and most likely completely failed to mention that it is a merchant card not an actual credit card. However for future reference you should always be aware of any credit card that charges you a fee in order to get the card. Credit cards and interests rates are based on your credit therefore needing no money upfront for fees or anything else. All the terms are clearly marked for this company in really tiny print that no human can possibly read therefore a class action suit would be useless. Again sorry for your loss of funds.
