Platinum Advantage Credit Card Phone Scam Largo Florida
Two hours ago my husband got a call from a so called credit card company. He and I both have terrible credit and could not get any credit card even if we wanted to. These people told him he could get $2500 credit limit, with $1000 dollars available for cash advance, all he had to do is pay a $200 activation fee. I am not 100% clear on everything they said to him but they took the last four digits of his SSN and his bank account number. I told him to cancel the card because we do not need a credit card- when he tried to cancel the card they gave him a phone number, which he called, and he was unable to speak to anyone on that line. He called back the original number that they called him from and said he wanted to cancel. The hung up on him. He continued calling until someone told him his account was canceled.
I knew something wasn't right, it just seemed like a scam. So i looked up the company name on the internet.
http://www.newplatinumadvantage.com/ and i got this web site. It is clear that this is a scam. The web site says this card can only be used to purchase items on their website- and you cannot get a $1000 cash advance. We called our bank immediately. No money was taken out of our account as of now and we have put a freeze on our account.
From reading the other reports on this site it is clear that these people have scammed a lot of other people. These reports go back as far as august of LAST YEAR!
Though we did not lose (or have not yet lost) any money, we are reporting this company to the PA state attorney generals office.
These people have been doing this for at least a year! Why hasn't anything been done about this scam?
The people running this "company" should be in jail for scamming all these people.
