THIS IS NOT LEGIT!!!! Called my local bank to ask about the check and was informed a hold would be placed on it. I read contents of the letter to the customer service rep. and he stated it was most likely a fraud and I could call JP Morgan Chase to clarify. My bank continued to tell me that "Power Mart" would receive the cancelled check with MY account info on the back of the cancelled check and they would have the info they needed to access my account. YIKES! My bank suggested I take the check to the local sheriff's dept. since there was not a local JP Morgan Chase in my area.
I also decided to call JP Morgan Chase (fraud dept.) @1-800-978-8664. I spoke with a representative and she verified that the account is frozen. No transactions can be completed on this account and the check is not valid. She suggested I destroy the check. When I asked about taking it to the sheriffs department, she stated I could do that also.
