I too have had trying times with the firm that Prepaid Legal has hired to handle the members concerns in my State. My biggest complaint is that I just don't feel that they exercise the same level of zeal in representing the Prepaid Legal members as they do their other clients who are on a retainer or hourly billing fee schedule. In your case it is unclear as to the exact circumstances of your summons to Court but it is clear that you were sent a summons by an Attorney firm versus the District Attorney's office. The Prepaid Legal contract provides for free Criminal Trial representation but not for Civil Trial representation. As it appears that your summons was for a Civil matter, Prepaid Legal fulfilled their obligation. I am posting this to offer you solace in the matter. Browse through your membership package and you will see that it clearly explains that in any Civil matter that they will offer discounted services versus free representation.
