Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

On July 25th 2017 at 8pm or so, I called my landlord Ted Stevens of Prestige Platinum Realty to advise I had an emergency with my front door(the lock was broken). I left a voicemail then and called again 5 minutes later, no answer. I sent 10 or so text messages with no response.

So, in essence my front door was unlocked from 8pm on the 25th until no sooner than 11am the next day. This whole time anyone walking by my door could see its unlocked and open, this is also AZ so air conditioning is escaping.

I finally reached not my landlord but his son Adam the next day after multiple calls were sent to voicemail intentionally, completely disregarding my emergency. Adam had no clue what was going on but wanted to argue that he knew what was going on.

I slept with one eye open that night with a broken door, not feeling safe. My landlord by simply ignoring an emergency situation placed fear into my home that he manages.

I wouldnt normally be adding to the Rip-Off report, but after seeing how many other issues the Prestige Platinum has had I felt I needed to say my part, as these 3 people are scammers. In fact they want their rent payments made out to Tacom investments, I have never heard of them and there are no results on Tacom using a Google search.

In any normal world leaving anything unlocked with no efforts{phone call, text or email} to fix it is incredible. Imagine leaving your car door open in a mall for 17 hrs and the owner of that car was informed but didnt do anything about it for 17 hrs.

Adam,

Accordong to AZ Statute 33-1364 a Tenant is allowed to withhold rent for FAILURE to provide essential services. A broken lock is a major repair and also an essential service. A landlord must also provide "reasonable protection from criminal intrusion". In which this was not done as my door was broken and gaping open for 17 hrs, as for the bungee cord, I have told you many times Adam, it broke nor is it my responsibility to fix the door. That is your responsibility as a landlord.

I shouldnt have to scrounge around my house trying to fix a broken door, what really should be happening is my landlord should answer the phone or respond to my texts stating I had an emergency. Not one phone call was answered for 17 hours and I placed at least 10 phone calls and sent at least 15 texts. Why would a landlord be so negligent?

A simple response to the text, like oh let me call a locksmith so you feel safe. Or, let me get the onsite maintenance guy over there and help you secure the door in the meantime. Not once did my landlord offer any empathy or acknowledgement.

Also notice on this report, I stated my concerns long before the 1st of August when rent is due, however Adam's rebuttal is all about late rent when he responds on Aug 9th. Readers beware Adam threatened eviction to me in email at 12:02 pm on August 1st when my contract with my original landlord Central Mountain shows my rent is not due until August 3rd.

If that doesnt raise eyebrows on how the Stevens group are slumlords I dont know what will.

My lease was to/for Central Mountain, on June 22 I was told rent is to be payable to Tacom Investments. I still have never heard of these people(I believe the Stevens group is running some kind of ponzi scheme). If anyone has ever heard of Tacom please let me know, Google search pulls no results on Tacom investments.

Beware of these slumlords, the Stevens group they use scare tactics, and when cornered they threaten evictions 48 hrs before any right to cure needs to be sent. If that isnt collection harrassment I dont know what is. I had a broken lock on a front door that was not fixed or addressed for 17 hrs. 8 of those hrs I had to sleep with an unlocked gaping door, hoping no intruders come in and the whole while my AC is escaping.

Problem fixed in less than 15 hours and tenant doesn't want to pay the rent!

Chad,

You have left out several important points to your story. You did not mention that you had spoken with the onsight superintendant at 9 pm to discuss the problem. You forgot to mention that he told you that the problem would be addressed in the morning. You also fail to mention that you had used a bungee cord to keep the door closed. You fail to mention that you accepted the response that the problem would be fixed in the morning. You expressed no fear or concern for your safety when speaking to the onsight superintendant. You also fail to mention that the problem was solved the following morning. Now, if it was the landlord's responsiblity to fix the problem we would have had 5 days to fix the issue. The problem was fixed the following morning. Now, it wasn't fixed at 4:30-5 am when you left to go play golf, but it was fixed by the time you came home.

You also fail to mention in your story that per your lease you are responsible for fixing the lock if it is broken. If you would read your lease you would see that in Section 11, Subsection B it states: "Tenant will keep all windows , glass, window coverings, doors, locks and hardware in good, clean order and repair." It was not the landlord's responsiblity to fix the problem, but he did. Why? Because he was trying to nice. We were well within our rights, per the contract, to charge you to fix the problem. Based on how you have conducted yourself, I doubt that the problem would have been fixed if you had to pay for it.

What you have also forgotten to mention is that you illegally have held your rent hostage over an issue that was your responsibility to fix, which we fixed for you, and told us to evict you if that's what it would take. You also forget to mention that you put in writing that you would post something negative about us on the Rip Off Report unless you were given $150 off your rent. You were told that we would not give into extortion and that you were not entitled to any money off the rent. It is totally your decision to withhold your rent for an illegal reason and it is your fault that you now find yourself in the middle of the eviction process for non-payment of rent. It is all on you that you will have a judgment against you for the rent owed plus the late fees. If you still refuse to leave after the judgement has been rendered it will be only you that will cause the constable to have to come by and put your stuff on the street, kick you out, and change the locks. You want a free ride, tried to extort $150 from your landlord and are mad that you didn't get what you want.

Now, you have been told on multiple occasions that Ted Stevens is NOT your landlord. He does not own the building. You have been told that Prestige Platinum nor The Stevens group own the building either. You are aware of this and yet you continue to push this lie. The fact that you haven't heard of the company that owns the building you live in is not proof that it doesn't exist. There are a lot of businesses you have never heard of. You have no evidence to back up your false claims. TACOM is an Arizona company in good standing that is not owned by anyone in the Stevens Group. It is easy for you to call everyone else a liar and a con...the only one who is lying, making up stories, and trying to get away with selling garbage is you.

We fixed a broken lock that was your responsiblity to fix in less than 15 hours, you have illegally withheld the rent, tried to extort $150 dollars from the landlord, and want to blame everyone else for your irresponsible behavior. These are all facts we can prove. You are just angry and want some free money and a month's free rent. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
