I received a call from Primerica in May asking me to come in for an interview based on my Monster resume. After the initial meeting I did find it odd that they called me based on my resume since it does not indicate any financial background.

I agreed to come in for a second interview to "learn more about Primerica"; I agreed to join their "team". I attended orientation that same night, which was your standard orientation. I then attended weekly "training" sessions for the next month, nothing of value was mentioned in these training sessions except how great Primerica is and how bad every other financial company is.

Prior to their Saturday "boot camp" I emailed the VP and informed him I would no longer be participating in Primerica. I have to this day not heard a word from the VP. I am still fighting with the refund department at the Primerica home office. The agreement does state I am entitled to a refund for the licensing fee, which Primarica states they are being generous and sponsoring a portion of that fee. I have spoken with other individuals who work in the financial sector and said any decent company will pay the entire licensing fee.

Primerica is in fact a religious cult that thrives on those that have found themselves in a financial bind. Primerica claims to help people by reducing debt. Primerica will help you reduce your debt but they also expect to keep every penny of the money they may have saved you on your monthly debt expense.

If you truly are need of financial advice, are looking to invest in your future, or feel you need life insurance then I would encourage you to speak to someone who has taken the time to become educated in finances and is actually qualified to provide you with the advice you need.

Refund Update

Mon, August 02, 2004

I informed the VP via email on June 25, 2004 that I no longer wanted to be apart of Primerica. My credit card was charged the $199 on June 29, 2004. Having no means of contacting the Primerica home office, I called my credit card company and disputed the charge. I later received a welcome to the cult letter with a contact phone number. I contacted them directly informing them I expected a refund. I was informed that I just needed to fax my request to them so they had it in writing. At this point I contacted my credit card company telling them I was able to contact Primerica and a refund will be issued and to cancel the charge dispute. It is now August 2, 2004 and I still have not seen a refund on my cerdit card. I have at this point contacted my credit card company and reopened the charge dispute.
