First of all the sales people from this company told me that I could use Voice Over Internet Protocal with more then one phone extension(on the same number)in my house. When I set up the modem I found out that it wasn't explained in the documentation. I called tech support and the man told me straight out that you can only hook up one phone and suggested I get a cordless phone!

Once I had it hooked up I found out that unless I left my computer on constantly, then the phone service was shut down. Also, I could no longer access the internet and they couldn't help me get that working. The service does not work properly. The quality is piss poor. The voice mail doesn't work. Dependiing on who you talk to you get different answers all the time.

The most dangerous and costly thing though is their ambigous and misleading contract terms. The 30 day trial period is based on 30 days from "activation date" which is not defined clearly in the contract. So, if you stall in getting this set up, or if you play around with it and the tech team long enough, they have clauses that almost guarantee that you cannot get the product cancelled and returned to them with in the 30 day contract period. Failing that, you not only lose the $39.95 you paid up front to get the chance to tryout the service, but a 10 day cancellation lead time automatically allows them to charge you a cancellation fee of $39.95 per month AND there is no prorating months. If you are into 1 day of a month, you pay for the entire month.

I had to cancel my Visa Debit Card so they can't get anymore of my money. I will probably see a ding on my credit report in the near future.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! They are ripping us off, they don't employ any Americans and they should all get canker sores on their upper lips and hemroids the size of party balloons.

I wasted about 8 hours of my life and $40 to get this lesson.

Completely different result with Lingo.

I also purchased the Lingo equipment. I am probably a little more technically minded than most, but I did not think setup was difficult at all. A simple Radioshack telephone splitter makes it possible to hook up multiple phones. I have 4 phones, all in different rooms, running off my box. Of course, if you disconnect from the internet, the phone won't work. (Duh) This is internet-base voice over IP. It is designed for permanent high speed connections. There is nothing hidden or deceptive about that. I use all of the features, including voice mail and call forwarding. Everything appears to work great. Their customer service is a bit of pain, but I can't really argue for the price. I don't know about their return policy. I haven't read the fine print. I, personally, am glad I can fire the monopoly phone company.
