Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In March, 2007, we signed a Furnace Sales Agreement (Residential) with ProGas and Heating, for purchase and installation of a mid-efficiency two stage furnace, and paid a deposit of $1550.00.

In early May a representative from ProGas removed our old furnace and called a "gas inspector" who visited our premises and informed us the mid-efficiency furnace could not be installed because both the hot water tank and the furnace could not be vented through the chimney. We were advised by the installer that we would have to purchase a new hot water tank and a high efficiency furnace so we signed an agreement with ProGas for purchase and installation of a hot water tank and a high efficiency furnace. On that date we paid an additional $1500 deposit for the hot water tank and upgraded furnace.

Delivery and installation of the hot water tank and furnace never materialized. We made numerous telephone calls to Eddie Lowe (the apparent owner of ProGas) over the following three months and Lowe repeatedly assured us our installation would happen "next week".

As our concern grew and we suspected we were being conned, we told Lowe we wanted to collect the furnace from his warehouse ourselves (he had told us he had the furnace but was having trouble with installers); we said we'd arrange to have an independent contractor install it. Mr. Lowe refused without explanation. In early August Lowe confirmed by telephone ProGas would deliver our furnace the following week; didn't happen. In late August Lowe telephoned to tell us we were next on his installation list; nothing happened - no installation, no furnace, no refund.

On September 18th, 2007, 4 months after ProGas and Heating removed our furnace, and with temperatures dropping and all members of our household cold and stressed, we signed an agreement with Homeworks Services Inc. for purchase and installation of a high efficiency furnace. The furnace was installed the following week and a new hot water tank was not required.

Subsequent telephone calls to Lowe have yielded no results, aside from his rude insistence that he owes us nothing as we breached our contract by getting a furnace elsewhere.

We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in late April of this year, however ProGas and Lowe have not answered the complaint and BBB has closed the file.

We're wondering how to get our $3050.00 back and how best to warn others in our community of the despicable practices of ProGas and Eddie Lowe.

Surprised and upset by a bold-faced liar

**UPDATE** The BBB has received 27 complaints about this company in the last 36 months!

Since filing my Ripoff Report I have researched the internet and discovered the following: 5 Ripoff Reports have been posted against Pro Gas & Heating; The BBB has received 27 complaints about Pro Gas & Heating over the past 36 months - after researching literally dozens of this company's competitors, not members of the BBB (Lowe told me the companies listed on the BBB were members who paid to have their names listed), I discovered only 1 company that had a complaint filed against it and this complaint had been resolved. Clearly 27 complaints, 3/4 of which were unresolved due to non-response from Pro Gas & Heating, is an extraordinarily high number of complaints; The Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority have this company under investigation and are closing in on both the company and Mr. Lowe. If you have had unsatisfactory dealings with Pro Gas & Heating, I urge you to contact the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority, to add your information to their substantial evidence against the company and Ed Lowe: Inquiry Officer, Business Practices & Consumer Protection Authority, e-mail [email protected]
