I've been with Progressive for my auto (three vehicles) and my house insurance (they insure mobile homes, too) for the past 6 years and have never once had a problem with their coverage, service, or rates. Actually, i left a big insurance company (one with a "farm" in the name) to go to progressive when i got a huge rate increase from the other company. Sorry to hear about your problems, though. And, no, i do not use "auto pay"...i get a bill each month and pay it each month, so it's not just those using auto pay that don't have problems.

I have been with Progressive for 4 years plus and couldn't be happier. I've even called other companies to see about a lower rate and haven't found one yet. Every claim we've ever made has been handled professionally and quickly. I use auto pay and have no trouble. Calling for customer service has always been good and the people are always friendly and respond quickly.

I have read too many similar situations to yours and an currently in one myself. We have been the victums of Progressive for a year of changing our policy, canceling our policy, charging wrong premiums, etc. My son was recently pulled over and because Progressive had not sent us our renewal proof of insurance cards, was issued a ticket for failure to provide insurance. He went to court only to be told that they would need a letter from Progressive. I called Progress and spoke to a representative who told me that they did not receive my payment for my renewal. I explained to her that we had just called about the renewal and actually made some changes to our policy because Progressive sent us a notice saying that our insurance was being increased from 261.00 a month to 684.84 per month. I also told her that we did not receive our new proof of insurance cards or declaration pages. She told me that with the changes our premium was $368.00 per month and told me that If I Paid her right then that we would be taken care of. She told me to send a Check post-marked for the day we spoke and that when they received it they would apply it as our renewal premium. We never got notice back we were told our policy was cancelled and re-written with a new effective date. Which means my son did not have insurance. I called Progress and spoke with 4 different people 2 of which were supervisors. They outright told me that they tape everyones calls and had my tape on hand with my conversation. When I asked them to play it for me they refused, when I asked for a copy they told me to get an attorney. I now am insuranceless and have to find a new carrier. I have already taken steps to see what I can to do bring some kind of action against Progressive and am hoping there are others out there as well.

Would like to know what company you went with. I have been with Progressive for approximately 5 years and within this last year I have had the same headaches of them cancelling then not cancelling, etc. I've been trying to shop around but want to check out all possibilities.
