Nevada drivers, beware of Progressive Insurance! I retired from work a year and a half ago.

I was driving 100 miles a week commute. I notified Progressive and they informed me my rate would stay the same. What?? I'm no longer commuting, thus risks for both myself and progressive are greatly lowered, yet I get no kind of discount.

Then, the next time I come up for renewal, they increase my premium. I've had no accidents, and no tickets since 1982.

I asked them why the increase? They said a general rate increase was accepted by the Nevada Division of Insurance. Nice to know the government bureaucrats favor billion dollar insurance companies that give out thousands in bonuses to their employees over members of the driving public who are not even allowed public input at rate increase hearings.

In addition, we the driving insured, pay to have Progressive put their name on the Cleveland Indians ballpark through our premiums. It will always be the Jake to me, not progressive Field.

Don't let them sucker you in with their idiotic commercials. They use typical bait and switch techniques. They'll give you a teaser rate at first to think you're saving thousands of dollars on car insurance, and then they'll jack you up later for no reason with the blessings of state insurance regulators who never tell them no.

Typical response from a brown-noser for the insurance industry! Nice to know you think the customers who pay Progressive's salaries are all liars. In any event, your response is not very timely. I have found another carrier who does indeed give retired folks who are no longer commuting to work a break. I saved over $100 in doing so. According to the Nevada Division of Insurance, my rate was increased because Progressive lost money in Nevada. Well now, I'm happy to say they've lost even more now by losing me as a customer.

First of all Progressive does not use mileage in any state besides california....why you ask...because everyone would lie and no insurance company has the manpower to regulate mileage. Second of all for some reason customers have a warped view of business when it comes to insurance.
Did you complain to your grocery store when milk prices went up and you did not do anything to the milk producers.
THATS HOW A BUSINESS WORKS!!!!!!
Your policy is built around other factors besides you!!!!! If you were to be involved in an accident and you were hit by an unisured motorist and Progressive were to pay 5000 to you in injury I would assume you would not want your rates to increase. Now multiply that by a couple million people for which Progressive insures. So lets do the math.....Progressive payed out a couple million dollars, didn't raise your rate, can't get money from the person that hit you because they don't have insurance. So..............they just eat the money.
