In May 2009 a young man came to my door asking for one hour of my time to perform a Rainbow Vacuum demonstration. As a reward, I would receive complimentary pizza and a movie for my entire family! The man stayed for over four hours, bringing in his "manager" when I told him I wasn't interested.  After I told them to leave my home they left the rebate form but no other printed materials or I would be reporting them as well. The rebate is from Promo Designs which according to my online research is located at

After carefully following the many steps outlined in the provided brochure, I then sent the required ORIGINAL receipts and ORIGINAL rebate form and was told to wait four to six weeks for the rebate to arrive. Several months later, I called the number listed above (which is a recording) and left specific information and requested that they contact me personally if there was a problem. Every few months I have continued to call, leaving information on both the pizza and a movie promo line and their "executive office" line.

Since this is so obviously a scam and I am upset with both Rainbow and this Promo Service I attempted to make things right by contacting the Better Business Bureau of West Florida.  After a lot of online and paper communication, Promo Designs responded by saying "we don't have anything listed under (name) at this address".  And BBB considered the issue resolved.  What a joke!

A few years ago, 20/20 or the like did a story on these types of teenagers selling door to door.  Most cases they were drug addicts living in a compound.  Its dangerous to do business with them, as they could steal your identity or worse.

If you want to have some fun though, order whatever theyre selling with your credit card.  Then when you get the crappy merchandise call the card company and tell them you want to reverse the charges as the crap dont work.  Theyll tell you to try and get a refund thru the company first, but just tell them you tried that and they told you to goto hell.  Most cases youll get a refund and get to keep the junk as well, and the satisfaction that you wasted their time!  Just keep a shotgun handy though, in case the kids want to egg your house.
