I have been a Very Very good customer of Providian Bank for over 6 years. When I first opened an account I was trying to rebuild credit, paid all my fees and have not been a credit problem for them. Within the last year I ever took advantage of a good deal they offered me to transfer balances from other cards @ 0% Interest rate for 6 months. Now that the free interest has past and they made no money on that portion, I am getting penalized for being 5 days late on a payment. They charged me $39 which I did not dispute and then 4 months later they increased my interest rate to 29.99% and then I was told last night it was going up to 30.24%. I talked to two people who told me that I did not qualify for any programs that would lower my interest rate. In fact other they did a history of my account and they found that I was late in 2001???

They advise the following on their website: "Ours is a competitive industry, and we want to establish long-term relationships with our customers. Our primary goal is to provide a positive customer experience over the course of the relationship a mission that all of our employees strive to achieve each day. In addition, Providian is dedicated to educating consumers on how to build and maintain good credit, allowing people to make smarter financial decisions every day."

They do not evidently wnat to keep "long-term" customers because they have lost my business!!!
