Several months ago I bought the prepaid boost phone at radio shack and was talked into the "phone insurance" plan offered by Radio Shack.  Big mistake.  Not only will I not ever buy a phone from either radio shack or boost mobile now, but I was ripped off by these companies completely.

When I signed up for the phone insurance it seemed like a good idea, the sales rep was helpful and made me feel like I would continue to get good service.  He even helped me set up the phone in the store.  But when the phone stopped working over a month later, this would be the last of the good service.

The boost phone just plain stopped working for making calls.  It would not receive a signal for more than a few moments at a time.  I took it in the get a new one, expecting for them to just give me a new phone since I'd purchased the "phone insurance."  Wrong.  The Radio Shack sales rep made me wait for 15 minutes before giving me a phone number to get the problem handled on my own.  He told me I'd have to send the phone back in, that the replacement was not Radio Shack's problem.  I came in a week later for a different response, and the sales rep took the phone from me and told me that he would handle it, telling me that the previous sales rep was in the wrong.  This new rep told me I should have a coupon in my email within a few days and I could just come back in and get my new phone.  Why they can't just give me a new one is still beyond me, considering the same model is right there on the shelf.

Two more weeks go by, I still don't have a phone.  Never mind that I might still be paying for service!  I go into radio shack and ask for my phone.  They say that the certificate for my new phone is "in the mail" and was sent a week ago, though a unit number was not included in the mailing address.  It wasn't supposed to come in the mail, it was supposed to come in the email.  I was told by the RS rep this time that I would have to wait a full 14 business days and "see if it came."  I intend to make sure that others do not have this experience.  "Phone insurance" through radio shack means not getting a new phone, not getting adequate help from Radio Shack Redmond employees, and pretty much being screwed out of communication and money at the same time.   I wish I could blame one of these companies, but I feel that both Boost Mobile and Radio Shack both share a hand in this.  Neither acts responsible for the mistake.  Clearly, neither care about keeping me as a customer.  I still don't have a cell phone a full month later, and nothing to show for my "phone insurance."  The Radio Shack employees tell you whatever they want to get you out of their store, and it always ends up being wrong.  I just want a decent phone.  When I pay for "phone insurance" I expect a new phone, not 4 trips to the Radio Shack, a bunch of excuses, and still no phone!!!!

If your phone still has not been returned to you, Call that 1-800 number given to you from the first moronic rep. Call that number DEMAND A REFUND for your RSSP (your "insurance"). Than go To radio shack and get store credit for the phone. The reason your being jerked around is because the service plan doesn't kick in till after 90 days, the first 90 day the store you purchased it from is responsible for replacements. Tell them on the back of your reciept it says its protected from defects within 90 days, and if they refuse tell them you will go to your state AG. If they still refuse just keep bitching. As an employee I know how it works. Tell them you know the phone is RMACABLE and to just replace it, and than you'll leave them alone. I apologize for this. Reading these rip off reports about RS employees makes me cringe to the point where I myself put in my months notice to move on to a hardware store.
