We recently had the displeasure of being ripped off and lied to by the Ramada Plaza Resort Vacations.

We purchased a package approxiamately 2 years ago. It was approximately 1400 hundred dollars. It was to include 3 days in Ft. Lauderdale, 3 day Cruise, and 2 days in Orlando Florida with tickets to Universal Studios and a rental car.

We received our package and set out on April 9, 2002 for Ft. Lauderdale. We arrived reported to the welcome center only to learn that in order to receive the voucher for the cruise we had to attend a time share presentation in Palm Beach. We went to this supposed 90 minute presentation, which lasted 3 hours plus an hour drive time each way. So, one of our vacations days was spent at this tour. They offered us a time share for 24,000 dollars, then it became 16,000 dollars, then we could buy a foreclosure for 4,000, again with a fabulous interest rate of only 17 percent!!

We went on the cruise, which wasn't too bad. Although, prior to the cruise they wanted to up grade us for just 149.00 to an outside room. We declined and when we arrived we had an outside room anyway. It didn't cost us a dime.

We went on to Orlando, when we arrived we reported to the welcome center where we were asked if we had purchased a time share in Ft. Lauderdale. When we responded no, we were told in order to receive the Universal Tickets promised we would have to attend another time share. I presented my paperwork and attempted to show them that it did not indicated that I had to attend another timeshare. The women said in your package you will see that you do. I went to my room, got the package she was taking about and it said that during your vacation you had to attend a tour. When she realized that what she was saying was inaccurate she became angry and said do you want the tickets or what. I said yes but I will not go on another time share. She said then you don't get the tickets.

I went back to my room, contacted Ramada, they said that they did not have anything to do with it call ramada resorts. I spoke to a women who said that said I should put the complaint in writing to Ramada Resorts. I explained that it would not resolve the issue of the tickets. I asked to be put on with the supervisor. A man named James answered saying you have to go on the tour to get the tickets! He did not ask what the issue was or anything. I asked if he was the supervisor, he said I am the Director. I then said that I was promised tickets and I am not receiving them. I said that was part of the vacation package. I said play the tape recording back that you have on all your conversations and you will see what I am saying is true. He said that he was VERY familiar with the tape and did not have to listen to it. How could he be familiar if he did not even ask my name? I told him that I thought he was a piss poor supervisor to condone misrepresentation and mistreatment. He said that he could not listen to my horrible language and hung up.

My husband went to talk to the women at the welcome center. He tried to show her the injustice to this whole process. She told him if he didn't like it to file a class action suit.

While we were there numerous people were complaining that they had been lied to, mistreated, wasted their money spending all their vacations doing tours.

Yet the best was when a person who had bought a time share in Ft. Lauderdale was given his tickets for universal studios and didn't have to attend a tour. It didn't say that IF you purchase a time share in Ft. Lauderdale you don't have to attend the tour to receive tickets. They have a very selective method of interpreting their rules.

I am sorry, but in my opinion, they should NOT be allowed to rip people off and take advantage of them as they did so many of us on this trip.

Please help us get rid of such scams.

If you go back and read the original post Jeanne, they attended the time share presentation. They were expected to attend a second one in order to get the tickets for Universal Studios. No where in any pitch I have ever received do they state you must attend a different presentation for each set of tickets or attraction or whatever you want to call it. Lisa, what is wrong with using this industry for a cheap get away? They have no qualms about it, so why should you? Now, I haven't gotten the passes to Universal or DizzyWorld, but I've gotten my share of $50. certificates for OUTBACK or LONESTAR steak house. I think perhaps this year, my wife and I will try to get a ski trip out of one of them. I can sit thru a 90 minute talk for a room and lift ticket. My time is worth something.

Jeanne, Did you not read the complaint? This person spent $1400 on this package and you're saying you don't get anything for free? My God, woman, read before you post otherwise you'll sound like a complete idiot! This woman paid for a service. Not like you, who obviously uses the timeshare industry to obtain free goods. Your post proved how cheap you really are. I wouldn't waste my time with timeshares even for free stuff but I guess some people are hard up. Hope things start looking up for you. Next time you go on a tour, remember no matter how low the sales person may seem, he does have a family to support.

I love 90 minute time share tours.... Why would anyone think they are going to receive a free cruise and free amusement park tickets without any obligations?

First off I would just like to say that there are only 2 free things in this world and it's air and sunlight!! Why would anyone think they are going to receive a free cruise and free amusement park tickets without any obligations? My husband and I have worked through the so called Time Share Sceme and have made it work for us. We have went on maybe 10 time share tours and have saved over $1000.00 dollars without spending a dime!! Oh of course we say at the beginning of the tour that we have never been on one before but it's a big fat lie.. We actually compete against each other on the tours to see who can get through the tour the quickest! I won the last one and had the tour salesman handing us our 2 Disney tickets within 45 minutes. That's over a 100 dollars in savings right there. Plus we stayed in a 2 bedroom suite fully furnished with kitchen and jacuzzi tub.. I figure for me to make 100 dollars at my job it would take me 8 hours so I think I can handle 45 to 90 minutes. I love time share tours!!
