I as well as many caught the bait of a cheap 8 day vacation in Florida and the Bahamas. I also thaought I would recieve two more vacations after I take the first trip.
As soon as I read these letters on the internet I called my fiance at work to tell him. I looked for hours at ways to beat Ramada Plaza Resorts and get our money refunded ASAP/ I was so afraid when I read that people were being hung up on and screamed, and resused to be refunded their money.
I waited until my fiance returned from work and he called the 800 numer on the back of the "voucher" we recieved. He was asked for our phone number and put on hold for several minutes. Then, the rep asked why we wanted to cancel, he told them he knew now that they were frauds and found them on the net. We wanted our money back and that was all. We asked to speak with a supervisor and was rerouted to the same fake recording or "sun-filled fun" for another 10 minutes only to be disconnected.
I got smart and determined and grabbed the cell to call them at the same time as my fiance. We were determined to get our money back from these people.
As soon as I called, the reps would ask for my number and then put me on hold after hearing "I want a supervisor" or "I want my money back!" I got into arguments with cust. srvc. reps and kept on track. I remembered the man that said he had to remain on the phone for over 45 minutes. After 9 phone calls, 4 disconnections, and 15 transfers I spoke with a smart a*s kid named Chris. He assured me that he would help me get a full refund and I shouldn't be so angry because only myself should let me get angry. What kind of crap is that?
I bitched some more and he said he wanted to help me but it was impossible with that attitude. I remained on the phone. He changed his tone and said he'd connect me. I said I wanted the direct number with the extensiaon because of the disconnections. He gave me this number-(but I didn't have to call it) (954)630-9449. After transefering me I of course was on hold for another 10 minutes.
But keep in mind, these minutes add up. I was connected to "Misty" who told me I could not recieve a refund. I said give me a supervisor and she told me she was the supervisor. I told her I had a family emergency and needed all of my money back. She told me that she could extend my trip for 3 years for a fee of $89! I said "No I want my money back." She and I were adament about our choices, but I kept on her about the refund. Then she agreed to give me $179 back and keep the rest for a fee. I said no, no, no until I was blue in the face. I told her her company was a rip-offg and I would sue. That everything is refundable, nothing is EVER set in stone. She got angry because I kept interupting her and "not letting her get a word in edgewise" She kept silent until I said "Hello?". Then she asked me if she could speak. This childish behavior lasted another 5 minutes or so and I was put on hold.
After 5 more minutes she came back on and said "Hello, Mam? Are you calmer now?" I wanted to kill her. I guess that was my punishment, being on hold. But that's fine, she agreed to refund my payment and payment plan 100%. She gave me a cacelation number and said it would be on my bill, refunded, in 7-10 business days. I also called American Express and they said if it's not refunded they'll take care of it and sue them.
Thank you so much for everyone's advice and letters. All of you helped me and my fiance get our hard earned money back in our account.
Good luck to those reading this. Be adament, but try and remain a little calm. Make sure they know you're completely pissed and won't get off of the phone until you are refunded. Also remember to stay on past 45 minutes. It was 47 when I hung up;)
