I got a letter in the mail, well actually a credit voucher coupon type thing for Ramada Plaza Resorts Jan2003 and called the day I got it. I was told the confirmation number I was given on the voucher was only good for one phone call and if the package was presented to me and I didnt take it , I would lose out on a great deal if I didnt act today.

I listened to this saleswoman present the most wonderfull trip to me about going to Ft.Lauderdale, then on a luxury cruise to the bahamas, and back to orlando to stay at the brand new hotel at disney. (a 4 star luxury hotel )I have a 5yr old and this was too good to pass up.

I told the woman at first I didnt have ANYTHING today to put down on the trip and she proceeded to tell me she was going to help me out so that my lil one wouldnt miss out on going to Disney.

I went back and forth and kept telling her I was broke today and I wish I could call back later to reserve but she finally got me down to 62$ so I went ahead and gave her the information, I got my package 2 days ago (Jan 27 2003). I decided last night after watching the video they sent that I was going to look up the hotel where we would be staying online to get a better view and to my surprise I found numerous sites about them (RPR) scamming people, I have read and read and read stories and came to the conclusion that those who did actually go, the majority had a HORRIBLE time.

Those that didnt and wanted to cancell had a extremely hard time getting a refund if they got one at all. I was lured into this becasue of the reputable name "Ramada" and I feel like such a sucker. I read over my paperwork and it says I have 5 days upon reciept of package to get a refund , so that is my first step here I suppose and calling RPR. I know I only put 62$ down with NO agreement to a payment plan, I know Im going to have a hard time geting that back.

I am going to pitch a fit and demand it anyway. I cant believe that they are still in business after all that I have read?? A intersting fact though during my conversation because I live in Illinois I am exempt to timeshare presentations?

Another scary thing she said while taking my information... their booking dept ( where they transfer you to after you commit to reserving to verify) was 2 hrs backed up that day because of all the calls due to this recent vouchers they sent out...

They said it was a word of mouth promotion to get us down there so we tell all our friends about what a great time we had so they will come too. I was under the impression we would be staying at Disney in thier new remodeled luxury hotel in a suite on the top floors as she said but I can see if I go Ill end up in a run down roach motel like everyone else has that went and on a old rusty ship for my cruise.

Who gave these MORANS a license to do ANY KINDA BUSINESS?????? and why isnt anyone protecting the consumers that keep getting ripped off? I actually found a picture of the imperial majesty SS Ocean Brezze online by searching yahoo and it REALLY DOES NOT look like the ship in the video they sent I can tell already Im in for trouble if I go. I think Im staying here in the land of Lincoln untill I find my way on my own to Flordia.

another good site I found to help others was http://www.rprsucks.com

this site name speaks for itself

I found the most info here visit tha resources page and you can find out by your state what you can do they have a drop down menu that will tell you whats in your area and give you needed info how to file a claim or copy paste this link to your browser window http://www.rprsucks.com/resources.asp

I am so glad I checked this out!! I received information about an Orlando trip for $99 and called the 800 number given. When I called and the operator went to transfer my call I had to wait and finally hung up. I decided to check the place out on the internet. Best thing that could have happened, because that's when I found all these reports. I really feel for those of you that have been taken advantage of. There is no such thing as trust anymore. People work so hard to earn the money they get and then to have something like this happen. How devastating!! Good luck Ami, hope everything works out for you.

Hi Ami, I'm Jen. A promotions director for Ramada Plaza Resorts, the package you are receiving is guaranteed to you- even your first class accomodations (that's why you're protected under that security recording) If you receive the package not exactly as stated to you then you can call customer service and have the situation rectified. I'm sorry that the representative lied to you about the resort being in Disney World. but I can assure you it was built in 1999 and only 10 minutes from Disney World and 5 minutes from Universal Studios. The cruise is not so bad either- just try it! And it's also a good thing you live in Illinois because your law states that you do NOT have to go on any timeshare tours during packages so you wont have any disturbances or 'annoyances' on the vacation. This is one of those things that you have to try yourself and think you're going to have a great time and you will! If not, the next best step would be to sell the package- I'm assuming the total value of your package is 698 so sell it for 1000 and you're good to go! Good luck and please don't think of Ramada as the bad guy, we really are trying to give you a good vacation so you'll come back in the future!
