Raven Media Phantom charge to credit card account Las Vegas, Nevada
Raven Media somehow intercepted my dedicated online credit card number. A charge of $39.95 that I did not recognized was billed to my account. There was an 800 number attached to the charge but it was written in such a way as to almost not recognize it as a phone number: 8007494646. I figured enough to call the number and spoke to a woman who was barely understandable (likely offshore) who explained that I authorized the charge June 26, 2008. I wasn't home that day or that evening. And I was absolutely certain that I hadn't signed up for it when she told me it was a MONTHLY fee. I asked where she was located. She gave me the Maryland Pkwy address in Las Vegas, NV. After realizing that I wasn't interested in Raven Media 'services' and wanted a refund, she then gave me three reference numbers for refunds for the three products I had no memory of ordering. I asked when the money would be refunded; she answered that it would be the next billing cycle. I asked again, when the money would be refunded; she answered in three or four days.
I don't much like parasites. This is the second time this year, after about six years of making purchases online, that some bone-headed outfit has tried to rip me off. If this is a trend, it's getting worse fast!
The first one was "Auto One Warranty Specialists" - they sounded reasonable at the outset but had to be forced to honor their 60 day money-back guarantee. Fortunately I kept every shred of paper and a record of phone calls.
I don't ever remember speaking with Raven Media online or on the phone. And yet, they found my credit card number and used it.
