Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We purchased a two to three year points membership from RCI, FantaSea Resorts in Atlantic City, NJ.  This is after refusing to purchase the complete time share package.  We were told the temporary package has all of the same perks as the full time share for the 2-3 year time period.

We were guaranteed a one year lock in on the price and rate of the full time share package if we decided to purchase it.  We thought we were getting a good deal, getting to try the package without being locked into anything for a permanent amount of time. We were wrong!

We were told the temporary package could be used for air and hotel accommodations, cruises and all inclusive packages.  The package included 30,000 points that could be used on up to three vacations with vacation packages starting at 9,000 points.  We were told the points exchange fee is $139 and would be if we did it this year or next year.  Lies continue.

When we decided to try and call to schedule the vacation of our choice, we were told that the points we had would not be sufficient for the vacation we wanted; which is ok because we wanted to stay at a 5-star resort.  However, as the representative continued, the exchange fee was now $209.  We were told there was an additional $7 fee and a 3% of the $209 that would have to be paid directly to the resort.

Then we asked about airfare and were told that there is no discount on airfare and the points we had couldn't be used for airfare.  When we were at the Flagship, we were explicitly told that we could use the points for anything; air, hotel or cruises.

Trying to get a hold of anyone with any answers is nearly impossible.  Call RCI they say they can't help, we have to call FantaSea or Travel Club.  We call FantaSea and they say we have to call RCI or Travel Club.  We call Travel Club and the call always goes into a voicemail for a Ms. Lee.  It takes a ridiculous amount of time to get a return call - at the shortest amount of time it was three days for a return call.  At the longest, it has been about a week and a half.

Finally got a return call and we were told that there is nothing that says we can use the points on airfare.  We explained what we were told when we were there and how it differed from the package that is what we are actually getting.  We asked if we can get our money back because clearly the salesperson just tells you anything to get you to purchase.  The lady said there's no way we can get out of the contract.

It may be too late for us, but please be ware and do NOT purchase any packages from RCI.  They misrepresent the packages and are extremely pushy.  They try to deter you from using your cellphone while you're there for the presentation.  They are extremely pushy when you say no.  They try to come back with a better deal each time but just a more pushy attempt to make a sale.

How to use the RCI timeshare exchange system

Despite RCI is one of the biggest timeshare exchange companies in the world, you still have to be very careful before exchanging your week, as there are many things that could go wrong during the process. Take into consideration that you have to book the resort as soon as possible, sometimes even up to two years in advance, which can be a problem for some families. Also, you must know that a membership fee needs to be paid, whether you exchange your timeshare or not
