Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Approximately one month ago when I signed up for residential home service and was assigned my new number the first thing I did was call and register this phone number with the national do not call list.

A few days after receiving my new number I began receiving 7-10 telemarketing calls as well as other types of calls non pertaining to me per day. A lot of the callers I would ask to be taken off their calling list and most of them were compliant with the exception of one company by the name Realms of Inquiry located Salt Lake City Utah. For the past 3 weeks now I receive a call from them on a daily basis asking to speak to a woman that I do not even know. Repeatedly i have told these people I do not know this person further more I have explained this is a new phone service please stop calling, the response I get from the caller is we are a non profit organization we do not have a calling list and they hang up.

Today I received yet another expected daily calls this time I was speaking with a lady by the name of Judy Hicks once again I explained the fact this is a new phone service and as I do not know who these people are please stop calling I am registered with the National do not call list and to please take my number off their calling list. The response I received was 'we are a non profit organization therefore we have no calling lists and we are not governed by the National do not call registry. I proceeded to advised her if the calls did not stop immediately I will file a complaint with the state her response to me was "do whatever the hell you want, you're an idiot' and once again hung up on me.

Right after this call I contacted the Department of business licensing to see if I can find the owners name and phone number to see if I can get this issue resolved with them. I was told by the Department of business licensing the people which are calling me are a non profit orgaization and are governed under the Department of Commerce. I contacted the Department of Commerce and spoke to one of their investigators and have filed a complaint.

This business is a private school and on their web site they show a JD******as the head of the school, but according the Department of Commerce this gentleman is listed with them only as the agent which means the owner or owners remain in the shadows and with staff they have working for them like this one can see why. Please do not send your children to this place there are other private schools out there that are much better.

I am the Headmaster of Realms of Inquiry. I am responding to the complaint filed on this site. I am disappointed that the gentleman took such drastic actions against an organization that provides such great services for kids. I was away from work when the situation happened and had the opportunity to talk with the gentleman and apologize for our rude behavior as soon as a returned to work. I agreed that calling him an idiot was not appropriate and I have counseled with my staff member about her response. I agree 100% with the gentleman that that should not have happened. The gentleman does have a number of items incorrectly listed in his complaint. The primary item is that Realms School is not involved in any Telemarketing activity of any kind. So the phone calls had nothing to do with any solicitation and his claim of 7-10 Telemarketing calls each day is not true. The new phone number that the gentleman has, and is complaining about the school calling, is a student's previous personal phone number. So the calls received on the phone are a combination of students trying to reach their friend, utilizing a school phone, and the school trying to confirm information for the upcoming school year. We updated our system with the phone number right away, but a few calls from multiple staff most likely still went out as we attempted to let people know of the phone number change. The Gentleman also complains about not being able to reach the owner of the school. There is no owner of a Non-Profit Organization. The school has a volunteer Board of Directors that hires me to manage the organization. So his refusal to accept a truthful answer had a significant part in creating the situation. The gentleman's request to be placed on our Do not Call list has been honored. The issue is that we do not have a calling list since we do not solicit over the telephone. We have informed our staff that the phone is no longer the students. My best judgment tells me not to send his phone number out to a school full of High School Students and tell them not to call the number, it would most likely result in him receiving an increased number of calls that I would have no control over. I am sorry that this gentleman is receiving all the calls he claims to receive, and I have done everything I can to resolve the situation. I am sorry the situation took place and am disappointed that a person would make strong negative statements to hurt a good school made up of very deserving students. Realms of Inquiry has been serving Pre-K-12th Grade students in the Salt Lake City area since 1972. Web Site: www.realmsofinquiry.org Sincerely, JD
