Dear Bureau of Recovery:

This letter is in regards to account number 872356, balance owed of $231.55 (Sprint account number 146782229). This balance will not be paid due to the reason on October 9, 2007, I called into make my last monthly payment with Nextel and termination fee of $200 (as I left them for better service with another wireless company). I spoke with a representative by the name of Yolanda (if she provided her real name) and when I asked what the balance on the account was including the $200 termination fee, she said there was no termination fee for the plan I had, and stated verbatim (after going back and forth with her for at least 5 minutes) the only balance owed on the account was $110.33 and provided me with the confirmation number of 582150 (as the previous payment I made was for $111.33 and confirmation number for that transaction was 026269).

Working in a call center myself, I know for a fact that all calls are recorded and kept for auditing purposes. You may have your client review the phone conversation that transpired on October 9th and hear verbatim the representative repeatedly confirming there was no termination fee for the plan I had with Nextel. Working in accounting, when faced with an issue similar to this one (normally for larger amounts of money a couple of thousand to ten thousand dollars), unfortunately, we have to take it as a loss and write the balance off based on the fact that incorrect information was provided to a member or provider regarding payment.

Again, I do apologize that the account was forwarded to collections, but the debt now needs to be returned to the original creditor to pull the call log to review what Yolanda informed me when I called in to pay the balance owed and any termination fee owed on October 9, 2007.

Sincerely,

Former Sprint Customer
