Complaint Review: Relax N Glow - New York New York

I am writing this report only to warn future employees of this company.  I worked for Relax N Glow for only 6 months.  I brought customers of my own to the spa to help them bring in more income, which most employees do not do.  I was a hard worker, I provided excellent customer service, and had no issues with any customers or co-workers.  I received nothing but positive feedback from all of my customers, and I have at least 20 people that would be willing to testify on my behalf. 

That being said, I am very disappointed that I was fired last night for no valid reason.  One of the owners, Gary Oberoi came into my room at the end of the night when I was getting ready to go home, and questioned me about why I was purchasing products from the spa if I'm "so broke."  I was disgusted that he felt the need to use my personal life against me.  As employees we were all entitled to 40% off of all products, and that's all that I was doing.  He immediately changed the policy after giving me a hard time about it.  He used that as his basis for firing me.  Ridiculous.  He attacked my character by telling me that he doesn't believe a word I say and he doesn't like the way I do things.  When I tried to leave the room, he wouldn't let me, and continued to attack me verbally.  I never did anything to warrant or deserve this.  It felt as though he was saying whatever he could think of to get me to quit.  Why? Who knows? He doesn't like me? Yes, that was obvoius.  He didn't want me to be able to collect unemployment? Maybe.  He's just crazy and paranoid? That's for certain.

There was absolutely no reason for my termination.  I can not speak for other people, but when I first started working here I heard from 3 different spa coordinators that he had spoken to them inappropriately so I knew to be careful.  One person said that she was asked about her bra color during an interview.  Another told me that he took her into a room to discuss her clothing and touched her behind.  I am not a liar and I would never make these things up.  I have never written a report on any employer in the past.  I just want women out there to know, do not work for this man.  He doesn't respect his employees.  He has yelled at us, called us "stupid" and anything that goes wrong around the spa gets blamed on his employees.  He doesn't take any responsibility for his mistakes.  There were several occasions where he involoved me in matters that had nothing to do with me, which I can prove with saved text messages, and I was then accused of being up to no good just for trying to help him. 

A few other complaints about my experience at Relax N Glow: no lunch breaks sometimes/most times. I was asked to do things during my break that had nothing to do with my job description and was not be paid extra for them. I was yelled at by Gary for things that I did not do.  When I interviewed with Gary he told me that I would be the only laser technician at the spa and that I would be in charge of all things involving the laser.  I was told that I would get commission for all laser sales.  Immediately after starting the job, another laser technician was hired. He accounced at an employee meeting that laser sales could go to everyone and anyone, and even if I convinced a customer to buy something, whoever took the payment would get the commission.  Gary is constantly changing the rules to benefit himself.  I started out being told that I would make 9% commission, but then he changed that number after.  Gary told his employees to write fake reviews on yelp for the company. 

If you are a self respecting human being, do not work for this man.  He makes a lot of empty promises, acts one way, and then turns on you in the blink of an eye.  I don't take it lightly when I am called a liar.  I find it absolutely inapproprrate that Gary accused me of lying about ridiculous things when I have no reason whatsoever to lie about anything to him.  I don't know where his paranoia comes from but in the end, I am relieved that I don't have to take his abuse anymore.
