I wanted to share my experience with looking for an apartment in New York City. I am currently on a month to month lease and looking to remain in the Harlem Morningside area.

Not wanting to pay real estate broker fees, I searched on Craigslist.org in the apartment by owners section.

Making a few calls and sending out numerous emails I scheduled several appointments.

This is where things got confusing. Out of the ten appointments I made eight were with the same person.

I had no idea of this, because Chuck Newman used various names, emails and phone numbers.

 While looking with Chuck Newman he explained to me that he works with two major landlords,

Reliance Realty and Heritage Realty. They have exclusives on their properties and CHARGE A BROKERS FEE ON EVERY ONE OF THEM! After hearing this I was very angry and disappointed. What a waste of my time!

At this point I played along with his game, told him I would like to take the next step on renting one of his apartments. The next day I received an email from Chuck Newman stating that I have to present $600 cash or money order to hold the apartment.

Needless to say I declined.

Below are some of the keywords used in his listings and false company names he used to advertise his listings on craigslist.

Stainless steel app, Washer/Dryer

 ALL OF THE LISTINGS DISCLOSE $100 CREDIT FEE.

The above Post is FALSE and DEFAMATORY. The Author is a COMPETITOR NOT a CLIENT.

As per Ripoff Reports instructions. (Step 1. Post Rebuttal to notify Author). I have retained the Law Office of Herrick Feinstein, LLP.  Avery Mehlman will represent me in this matter. I have begun the process for issuing a Subpoena for Author information.  I will initiate a Court Proceeding in an effort to learn your Identity. (Step 2. "Wait a reasonable amount of time for Author to respond"). My offer is the following: I will wait until Monday July 6, 2014 for you to remove the Post in its entirety. If the post is removed I will NOT pursue your identity or make any claims against you or your Firm. If the Post is Not removed I will have no choice, I WILL pursue your identity and hold you liable for damages. 

The First Amendment right to free speech includes the right to remain anonymous, but does not protect statements which are false, defamatory and slanderous!
