Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
After paying with check for a purchase I made the prior day and realizing the check would bounce, I arrived at Reubens Rest. the following morning at opening and asked to pay for my purchase with cash. The employee working the tables said this would not be a problem and the chef in back confirmed that the check would be ripped up.

Days go by and I go to the Alaska USA to deposit some money for a check written the day before so that check does not bounce either, and had called the member service center by phone recently and was told I had a small balance of 7 cents, but was NOT told I was facing bounced check fees with the bank, etc. While at the bank, I try to desposit $28 to cover a check from the previous day, and instead the banker takes all that I have, $36, and DOES NOT EVEN TELL ME WHY! All she does is laugh, "Ha ha ha, I have to take all your money, now you only have 95 cents left."

Later this same day, I check my post office box to see the mail from the bank about the Reubens bounced check and two others that have also bounced.......why wasnt I informed!? This creates frustration as I have just walked across the entire town of Kenai, and now will have to do it again as I do not have a car or a drivers license. Not to mention a sick pregnant girlfriend who needs my attention and I work night shift, but I am forced by the confusion to walk to the bank and Reubens and ask for an explanation.

Reubens manager looks me in the eye and says she ripped up my check herself, and at best will only be able to refund me their $24.10 mistake. The bank tells me its my fault and the assistant manager for the Kenai Alaska USA is rude, unassuring and really helps me get no where. I ask where my visa check card is that I ordered almost two months ago and she has no explanation. I tell her to cancel it anyways, since this is the worst thing to happen to me all year, and she refuses to help me cancel my card.

She tells to come back Monday morning even though she has no explanation for why her employees did not inform me of the trouble with my account when I just opened this checking account earlier this year, and have never had a checking account, but I have been banking with them otherwise for years and years.

I now realize my biggest mistake in life was opening a checking account with Alaska USA and dining with Reubens International Restuarant. I have NO IDEA how I will be able to account for three other bounced checks and my reputation is now damaged beyond repair in this small community. NO THANKS TO ALASKA USA AND REUBENS RESTUARANT. NO THANKS AT ALL.

Accept responsibility for your ACTIONS

A direct quote from "dustin" - "Days go by and I go to the Alaska USA to deposit some money for a check written the day before so that check does not bounce either, and had called the member service center by phone recently and was told I had a small balance of 7 cents" Can you even understand what you are writing? You have just admitted to writing a check without any money in your account and then tried to deposit some money AFTERWARDS. You also state you were aware of your balance. Grow up and behave like an adult. You do not accept responsibility for your actions and blame your unethical beahavior on other entities, truly sad indeed. If this business did go under, it was probably due to people like you and their devious methods for paying. Lastly, why did you sign/agree to the conditions of your checking account if you didn't read it all, as you claim? That is no one's fault except your own.

I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE

Well, screw all of you folks who have not had the pleasure of dealing with the in's and out's of our beloved Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, and their distasteless method of doing business. And as for Reubens' International restaurant, they SHUT DOWN and will remain indefinitely shut down which does not dissapoint me. I am NOT THE ONLY ONE who has been ripped off by Alaska USA Federal Credit Union. Also, I was not writing "floating checks" as many of you have suggested. And the idea that these businesses should be filling out rip off reports on myself is absolutely upsurd and ignorant. In fact, if you carefully read the terms and conditions of "NEW" customers and "NEW" convienent checking accounts under the Alaska USA website, it clearly states monetaries deposited in a new account that is less than thirty days old, sometimes these deposits DO NOT CLEAR for up to 7 to 10 days. But none of us right here right now could honestly admit that we read those ten pages worth of 8 font writing, that is the terms and conditions when opening up a new account with your local bank. So I was supposed to somehow prevent these acts of godly nature, shawdy banking practices, and lying restaurant employees and WHAT!!!! Build an army to overthrow a bank that at least 1 in 15 people in the local community have had unknown and unneccessary surcharges, etc. taken out of their accounts and they themselves been wrongfully accused of writing "floating checks." Maybe I should go collect some more stories of the horror of Alaska USA, and have those people post them on this site.

Floating Checks is wrong.

You are irresponsible and YOU are the one trying to pull a fast one with two businesses. You are writing checks knowing that you don't have the money to cover them at the time. That is what is known as "floating". "If the money isn't there in your account, don't write the check" - it is as simple as that. Since this Oct. 28th, a new law (Check 21) went into effect that allows the processing of checks to be much quicker. People like you won't be able to abuse check privileges anymore. Dustin needs to understand that he is wrongly accusing to businesses and could be held liable for his baseless accusations if these companies choose to go after him for trying to ruin their names.

Hi it is Texino, we must discuss the banking business OK? Now a bank is a business. How does he make money? Well he sells money to people through many types of loans. Where does he get the money to sell? Well he get it from the deposits. Now before these days the bank would always charge you fees for checking. Pretty soon people they figures the bank he is making money on their money and charging them to do it. Every one is mad, so the banks change the rules a little and now most checking is "free." I got to tell you something though, even if my English sucks. The banks has the long memory like the elephant or the snake and he never forget how the people make him look a fool. So he just sit there and watch your little bit of money. If it happens that you make a check for NSF then the bank get very happy because he can charge you big for the mistake and so can the other bank if there is two involved. You would think that your bank since he sell money, he would sell you a little to cover your check and then you don't look like a crooked Joe to everybody. This is how banks in most other countries work. They calls it an overdraught and it works sort of like a credit card. You make a check for some money you don't have well your account gets debited that much and you are charged a simple interest on the whole matter, like 6 or 10% Most everyone can make this work. As it stands now, maybe you need to have a bank account where if you want some money you have to go get it. No checks allowed. That way, you are not tempted to Kite a check which just means writing check for money you don't have on the pretense that you will have the money before check clears. You do that, soon you will mess up. I am sorry but I think you do not know a lot and you need to learn some stuff real soon and maybe Alaska is not the place due to crazy inflated economy. If you got to stay there, well find some credit union that has share deposit and open credit line. Work hard and do not spend what you don't have. Thank you...Texino

Wrong Person Wrote This RipOff Report

Sorry, but I think that the resturant AND the Credit Union should have filed RipOff Reports on YOU, as YOU are the one trying to RipOff two businesses. Here in the lower 48 we usually jail those who are doing what you are doing now. What would you have done with the Check Card? If you can't keep money in your account, and try to cover bad checks with cash the next day, you will NEVER be able to use a check card. When you use a check card the money that you sign for is almost IMMEDIATELY taken from your checking account. How would that feel, if you went to a business establishment and tried to use your check card and it was declined? You don't need a checking account as you can't handle one in the first place. best of luck.
