We bought our first Rick Cain Sculpture in the Florida Keys in 1992. It was "Searchers". since that time we have purchased another 35 of his works all over the country. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Cain and having him sign the pieces we owned at that time. We believe him to be a man of integrity and talent. We actually met one of the artists who worked with him who confirmed the same opinion. He was the unfortunate victim of an unscrupulous employee and has had a difficult time recovering his business and his reputation. I am greatly sorrowed that he has not produced some of the excellent work from his earlier years, but our collection will remain among our most valued objects.

If you were a serious Rick Cain collector you would know what constitutes a paint model. It is not a limited edition piece and not numbered so. The pieces he is selling that are limited edition are from his own collection, so evidently he needs the money. He has not produced any limited edition sculptures since 2005. Since 1994 I also paid top dollar for his pieces by the ONLY way you could get them back then which was through dealers. And of course they increased the price quite a bit over what they purchased them for. If you want to see some disgustingly low prices for Rick Cain pieces check eBay. But you are way out of bounds accusing Rick Cain of anything inappropriate.

Rick Cain is one of the most talented Artist you have ever seen, you should be lucky if you have any of his excellent sculptors, many other artists tried to copy some of his art work, but when you see a piece of his art, you can recognize it without reading the label that its a Rick Cain piece. As far as the Collectible market, it should be noted that you should have bought the piece because you liked what you bought, and not how much you spent and what it worth today. To the person that is complaining about the value of your Rick Cain pieces, every things value has gone down in this economy, starting from houses to your Rick Cain pieces, just learn to live with it. Rick Cain is making Sculptures that you will never see anyone else can attempt to make, if he is selling them at a lower price, that is what the market price is for right now, and if you think if he could sell them at a higher price but he isn't because he wants to rip you off, then you are living in a bubble. He is just trying to earn a living just like everyone else, thats all.

The first item is Bathing Hole limited edition 376 of 2000. This item was shown as sold out on Mr Cain's report dated 2004 with a secondary market value of $800. Mr Cain is selling the same item for $157.00 and calls it a "paint model" but did not explain to a friend what that means. The second item is Ancient Passage limited edition 94 of 3000. This one too showed sold out on the the report from Mr. Cain in 2004. He is currently selling this same item for $137.50. Again, I am very unhappy with Mr. Cain and if he had a valid explaination he should have replied to one of my emails.

the original complaint would be more persuasive if the source of the damning information were given. i suggest that the complainer submit the numbers and titles of his "limited edition" pieces for others to examine and respond to. if there are duplicate numbers, this would be proof of fraud by someone; otherwise, there is not much way to prove the allegation. i was in retail a number of years and sold many rick cain pieces. dealings were always straightforward and cain never gave me any reason to suspect his integrity. it is easier to set out an unsupported charge than to defend against it.
