Ricks Mattress Outlet Ricks Mattress Outlet is not worth the trip!!! Bethlehem Pennsylvania
I came across an ad for Ricks Mattress Outlet on Craigs List. When I called to inquire about his ad on mattresses, I got his machine. I later called back and spoke with Rick. I was calling on an ad for a $129 queen pillowtop mattress. I set an appointment with him.
His claim, in addition to the pillowtop, is that "he can beat any price out there".
When I showed up I was greeted by Rick who proceeded to show me the bed. It wasnt at all what I had invisioned which was fine. I started examining his other beds, he didnt have any of the mattress sets that I previously had researched before coming to his place and couldnt offer me is advertised 10% off deal that he boasts about on Craigs List.
His mattress line up was very generic and definitely did not validate his advertising claims. Needless to say I left disapointed and ultimately found what I was looking for at one of his competitors.
Rick is a very nice man but when advertising on the internet or anywhere for that matter, your message must be consistent with what you can offer. His ads are very misleading to what merchandise he can provide (at 10% off).
I unfortunately found out that this trip out to Bethlehem this day was a big waste of time. My advice, shop around before heading to Ricks Mattress Outlet.

As a small mattress dealer near Harrisburg PA I too have had dealings with Carolina Bedding and later Carolina Bedding Direct and agree with every thing you say. They are very dishonest people and you were selling what they jokingly referred to as "the bag of springs". It was a bait and switch deal and still is today with what they call "The Beginnings". I've moved on to a much more reputable mattress company to represent and haven't looked back. I wish you continued success and hope David looks you up the next time he's in the market.

Actually, I couldn't agree more with you David, except for the 10% price guarantee. I still offer it, and it has saved money for a number of folks. However, everything else is spot on. The reason I'm in agreement with you is this; When I got into the mattress business, I had contracted with Carolina Bedding who carried a line of Park Place mattresses. Now while Park Place does manufacture many lines of fine, well made mattresses, they also carry, (as ALL manufacturers do) a line of low cost low end mattresses. This is the line we carried, with an emphasis on "carried." The dealer training was poor at best, with product knowledge a well guarded secret. David, you are absolutely right about the 129.00 pillow top not being what was advertised. We were sold a mattress that was no more than an innerspring covered in fabric with a tape edge sewn to it about an inch and a half from the top to give the APPEARANCE that it was a pillowtop. I never agreed with it, but being new to the business I simply didn't know any better. Whenever I would confront Carolina Bedding about it, they would just say that because of it's construction, i.e., the tape edge, that technically it was a pillow top mattress. I have since become educated about the mattress industry and mattress construction, and am very proud to say that I now carry a QUALITY line of mattresses from Spring Air and Therapedic, AND have been factory trained by both. No more 100.00 pillow tops! I'm also proud to say that I sell more mattresses than when I was with Carolina Bedding, and my customers are extremely happy, as our approach has dramatically changed from just schlepping mattresses to making sure each customer is matched with the RIGHT mattress for thier needs.
