Robert Kilikowski should not be confused with Rudy Kubasta of RK Real Estate in Loveland. Two different entities.
We attempted to rent a home in Boulder from Robert. The home was owned by his mom and she showed it to us.
He said our rental application looked fine and gave us portal login info to send him $750 as a deposit. He did this even before we signed a lease.
We deposited the money but then he emailed and said someone else got the house. Asked for refund and gave him address.
Weeks went by and no check came. Calls were made to him. Kept on promising to send money. First he said he's send one check and then he said he would have to cut each applicant a check. More time went by and no checks.
Called his mom.She said she would cut a check if his check didn't come. She swore that he had a check printed.
Finally, after threatening small claims court, he contacted us for addresses to send checks. Doesn't sound he had been planning to send them after all. Fully believe he was trying to rip us off. Either that or he's disorganized
If this happens to you, don't bother with phone calls. Send a 7-day demand letter. Go to the City of Boulder website to see more info on this. Under the law you can take landlords to small claims court and get not only interest on deposti but also treble charges (3X) and all related court costs.
