Barton & Beth Jessen represented mini bulldogs for sale online.   Between cost of the puppy, airline costs and Paypal charges total cost was $2,241.   Took my sweet puppy to several vets and experts, including a Governor of Bulldog Club of America.  All confirm that our cutie is not a purebred bulldog as represented by these breeders.

Breeders used to go by BJ Puppies.   They closed down their website & made a few modifications, only to re-appear as Rock River Puppies.   Names and address are not listed on their new website.  What's to hide---PLENTY!!

There have been several others who have posted online that they were also sold mixed breed dogs by the Jessens.   Google  "BJ Puppies".

Also, Barton's wife Beth Jessen has been suspended from the AKC several times for "false certification of litters".   She is currently under suspension.   Google Beth Jessen + AKC.

If buying puppies on the internet, I recommend not purchasing unless you:

--personally visit the breeder and their facilities
--personally see the sire, dam and puppy
--get copies of parents' certifications
--get photos of the parents

In addition, if considering buying from the Jessen's:

--require them to put in writing that they will fully comply with the Minnesota Pet Lemon Law
--require them to give you a copy of the Minn. Pet Lemon Law
--require them to put in writing that if the puppy is found not to be the breed represented, that they will give you a full refund within 7 days.

Reputable breeders who charge such high prices do not hesitate to guarantee the breed of their puppies!

Even my 8 year old son says--people should not lie on the internet at all!   And that Sophie should have only cost $1.00.   He wanted me to tell you they should refund our money.  And that they should not be charging people so much money for puppies that are not bulldogs.   That's his professional 8-year old opinion.   :)    If only we could run the world through an 8 year old's eyes, things would be so much simpler.    :)

The sire and dam of my sweet Sophie are:  Jessen's White Rock and Jessen's Annabelle.  If considering a puppy from either one--you should think twice.

For those wishing to contact me, feel free to send me a message through (((Redacted))).

Good luck!

And DNA says?!......MIXED BREED!!!

It's official!   We just received the results from MMI Genomics on the DNA Breed test that we had done.

DNA confirms Sophie is NOT a purebred bulldog as breeders represented--and her parents are not purebreds either!

Sophie's DNA results are:

Primary Breed:   <none>
Secondary Breed:   Bulldog and Staffordshire Bull Terrier
In the Mix:   French Bulldog

Lack of Primary Breed is significant for 2 reasons.  First, it shows that Sophie is not more than 50% of any one breed--and she is certainly not a purebred bulldog as breeders represented.  Secondly, it means that NEITHER of the PARENTS are purebreds either!  If either of the parents were a purebred, it would show up in the Primary Breed.

Jessen's claim that the parents are:

Jessen's White Rock
Jessen's Annabelle

They sent us papers that both of these parents are Miniature English Bulldog.   DNA results say NOT!!!

Once again, BUYER BEWARE!!!!
