I would like to start by saying that Rock Tops, Inc is the most unethical company I have ever dealt with! After seeing their company vans in neighborhoods and on highways, I decided to check them out. I entered the glistening showroom, and did not hesitate to give them a deposit in the amount of $1400. When the guy showed up to measure my kitchen with a $13,000 state-of-the-art laser (his words) I must say I was impressed. The contract sits in front of me and reads "to be installed before Christmas!!". On December 22nd, as instructed, I tore my kitchen apart. The dishwasher and fridge in the living room, the sink ripped out and thrown in the trash (for it was to be replaced by the promised FREE stainless steel sink), and the countertops: torn off and nonexistent. My new Key West Gold granite countertops, that I dreamed of and saved for, were to be installed on December 22nd. I took off work to be here when they arrived for installation. As the afternoon approached, my daughter, wife, son and myself incessantly called every contact number we could find online. All corporate mailboxes were full (go figure) and needless to say we were unable to reach anyone. My son and I drove to the St. Louis and O'Fallon locations only to find that they were "Closed for the Holiday". Funny since I was promised countertops before Christmas, and they were M.I.A. On Christmas eve, when I was to have family over to celebrate but had to reschedule since I had a kitchen that looked like a tornado had passed through it, I returned to the Saint Louis location to find a newly posted sign that read "Out of Business".

I was enraged and in disbelief that a company that has been around for years could take advantage of trusting consumers by taking their money and running, right before the holidays. Furious, I went on the internet only to find that this was a common story amongst victims of Rock Tops, Inc. Thank God I put the $3000 on a Discover card, which are currently disputing the charge. As a sales manager for a company in the flooring industry, I found out through the grapevine that Rock Tops was over a million dollars in debt to their vendors and that they have known for months that they were going to file for bankruptcy. So they have screwed customers out of hundreds of thousands of dollars with no intention of installation. They have taken the money and ran! So here's the catch, Monday I went back to the St. Louis store that most recently posted a sign that stated "Out of Business" and they had a new sign with a list of customer names on it stating that they would be contacting them to schedule an installation date. My name was on the list, but they will be sorry to hear my voice if they do indeed contact me. They will not step one foot in my house, but I doubt they have any intention of doing so. So here I stand, $3,000 possible in the hole, with plywood being used as a substitute for countertops and the bathtub as my new sink!
