We bought a car from Rodeo Ford of Plano in mid-April 2008. At that time, we weren't really happy in the way the sale was conducted, but it wasn't the first time a dealership has acted "shady."
However, what happened after the sale made that a distant memory.
#1. Tags...
When you buy a car that doesn't have a tag, they give you a temporary - and the new tag usually takes <2 weeks to come in. Or at least, that is my experience. This is a quote from the Attorney General's website: "Under Texas Law, the dealer is required to register and title the vehicle in your name within 20 working days, regardless of whether or not you owe money on the vehicle to the dealer or another financier."
That being said, we went through 2 temporary tags, each with 2 week expirations. Then a 3rd, with a one month expiration. We finally received the car tags in mid-June.... 2 MONTHS AFTER THE SALE!
By the way, I have already reported them to the Attorney General's office, who is now investigating.
#2. Trade In...
When we bought their car, we traded in another vehicle. Easy right? Well, NO, of course not! In the beginning of June, we started receiving phone calls from the lender saying that we missed our next payment and were over 30 days late. I know what you are thinking, the payment was due around the time of trade in. NO, it wasn't due until 2 weeks after we traded.
We called the dealership and after talking to the General Manager, I found out that they had screwed up many of their trade ins because of the former finance manager. So I thought, it'll be done the next day. OF COURSE NOT!
They payoff for our trade in wasn't sent in until late June, almost making the payment 60 days late. And this was after hounding them every day!
After calling for a month, I finally went back down there to get a letter stating their mistake and to take full responsibility for their actions. This letter will be sent to the credit bureau's as well as the lender so that our credit is cleared up.
#3. Extended Warranty...
Like many other people do, we chose to get an extended warranty since this car is used and it's manufacturers warranty is about to expire. Well, of course, they screwed that up too. Apparently they are so incompetent that they can't tell the difference between the "new car form" and "used car form". Now get this, when I talked to the finance manager, he said they resent it with the correct form already (but he couldn't produce a copy). So I called the Extended Warranty company, and of course, they don't have the updated form. WHY SHOULD I EXPECT ANYTHING DIFFERENT!?
