Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Our oil burning hot water furnace stopped working the night of Thursday Jan. 15th 2009 over here in East Greenbush, when temperatures were below 10 F. Used electric space heaters for the night and called Roland the next day. A guy came out pretty quick and "diagnosed" our furnace for an hour to tell us basically we needed a new one and it was not safe to work on (carbon monoxide, even though i told him we have a $80 Carbon M. alarm), and so left us with no working furnace for probably one of the coldest nights of the year 5 degrees to -10 F and charged us $107.

We finally got a hold of another small furnace/gas supply company named Legenbauer and they were able to come out luckily before they closed and literally diagnosed the furnace in 15 minutes and told us we needed a new tranformer, replaced the part and were on there way in an hour. Basically we payed about the same for Legenbauer to come out and fix the furnace and get our heat back in the same amount of time it took the "Service Expert" Roland J. Down's to tell us we needed a whole new furnace and leave us in the cold.

Either the guy from Roland wasn't skilled enough to figure out what was wrong or lied to us and with held info to try to rip us off. I believe the latter, as he also told us other things were wrong with our burner etc. even though all it need was a tranformer to get it going so we could live in the house without freezing to death. I understand it is the way of the business for these places to lie and withhold info in order to make profits, but i think it is funny how the smaller companies are usually more honest and wont do things like try to make profits over leaving people in the cold.

We regret you were left with the impression that we were trying to sell you something that wasn't needed.  We attempt to make every effort to clearly explain to our customers what is wrong with their system, their options and what it takes to fix it correctly.  Sometimes our technicians do recommended the option of replacing equipment due either to age, cost of repairs, poor efficiency or safety.  If there is a responsible low-cost alternative, then we should provide that option.  We hope that you will contact our Customer Relations Specialist, at 855-301-2206 and allow us the opportunity to resolve your concerns.

your kind of right on both parts. the company is heavy on finding and making leads for new equipment and acceories. but management does sterss quality and truthfull leads. i know most of the techs there and all are trust worthy and care mostly about solving the issue and if fixable would even fix it if you were intrested in replacing the boiler. oil is very scary for younger techs and isnt seen as much as gas now.thats why i believe you most likely got someone green and and jumped the gun. ignition transformer is very simple to diagnose and replace. i dont think he knew oil at all. as far as the service call goes their dia price was comparable to any of the larger heating companies. 84 for maintenance customers at all times and 99 day and 104 at night for non customers. unfortunatley some greener techs will condem and pass it on when they should be calling for help. this happens everyplace. all companies have their top techs and ones that are learing. it depends on which one shows at your door. and in this business it takes years to learn all the junk that out there now. downs is a co that will work on allmost any thing.
