Warning: Read this before paying for Roommateclick.com.

Because I've written roommateclick.com twice with NO response, I'm left with no recourse but to write this report.

I joined roommateclick.com based on supposed interest from other members as a potential roommate. I paid the $35.95 fee (or thereabouts) so I could respond to them. I proceeded to contact those "interested" parties after I joined.

To make a long story short: after 25 e-mail responses to 25 people supposedly interested in me as a roommate, I received NO RESPONSE from ANYONE. I even wrote 5-6 of them back and asked them to at least confirm that they received my response. NO ONE replied.

I am an employed graphic artist with good references. I think you'd agree I should have received SOME kind of response?

At the very least, roommateclick.com entices you with photos and roommate offers from free members who won't be able to respond to your e-mails even if you're a paid member. They do not distinguish between free members and paid members, which in my opinion is deceptive.

Interpret the above as you may. I can only share my personal experience. Perhaps you'll be more fortunate than I.

I too signed up after getting a number of "interests" in my profile. The only way to respond to these interests is to pay for a profile. I signed up for what I thought was a 5.95 1 day trial, and got billed for $39.95 for 1 month. Well what do you know, after they took my money I recieved absolutely no return emails from these supposed people who were interested in my room. I even emailed a large number of people on the site trying to get a response and nothing. The site is a huge scam and does not work. Im sure its full of fake profiles that just lure you in so you pay the $40 thinking there are real people interested in your room but theyre just employees of the site. DO NOT GIVE THESE THIEVES YOUR MONEY ITS A SCAM

Ron, perhaps there was something about the multitude of emails you sent out that made someone not want to consider you as a roommate? One would think that choosing a roommate should be a rather selective process. But it appears that you sent out so many emails, maybe it looked as though your main qualities were more like desperation, rather than those that most would consider good roommate qualities. May I suggest you tone down your approach a bit, and focus on the way your emails come across to people? From the tone of your post here, it does seem as though you may be coming across a bit pushy and sour.

Hello. I just wanted to say that I used roommateclick.com, and had no problem with them. I got several responses to my ad, and I found my new roommate. After I found my roommate, I clicked on the cancel membership button on my profile, and they never billed me again. I don't think any scam company would make it so easy to cancel membership. Even good companies like Gevalia and Audible make you call them to cancel. I never emailed them for customer service, so I cannot say whether its any good or not. However, I would recommend them for those looking for a roommate.
