My tenants called Rooter Plus to fix a kitchen sink garbage disposer.  Their technician/plumber quickly determined the motor burnt out (one year old unit)  and needed replacement. My tenants were intimidated and pressured to get it fixed when told the disposal unit could cause some aero-Bourne bacteria and did not want to take any chances with a toddler in the house. Not knowing what the parts costs, my tenants assumed Rooter Plus was charging a reasonable fair amount for the labor since customer relies on the BBB standards backing the business integrity.

Their advertising is misleading the consumer to encourage transactions. They offer"Free Estimates'' and never to charge extra for answering call at night, on the weekend, holidays or for emergency service.

The technician/plumber charged $465 to replace it without disclosing  the itemized cost for labor and parts.  Actual cost for the disposer was determined later to be $100, actual labor charge $365 for less than 30 minutes.  That's about $730 hour.  That's outrageous! The average labor cost for replacement is about  $75-$150. As, I wrote a complaint to the company, I was told by their customer service they are a flat fee company and many factors play into the pricing of their service calls and not just the plumbers time to do the work.

They also implied that as a Landlord, charge for many other incidential costs associated with this rental which is built into my rental fee. Are they implying I should be paying more because I collect rent?I sincerely wrote this complaint to warn other customers.  Before you get any work done by anyone, get estimates, don't rely on their misleading advertsement, get the itemized labor  and parts cost before you approve any work to be done.

This Consumer fails to mention we have responded  four times in writing to his issue. We are a flat rate company, We charge by the job whether it takes us 15 minutes or 15 hours the price is still the same for the job at hand. We did not intimidate nor pressure the tenant to get the garbage disposal fixed.
The tenants raised the issue and questions regarding air borne bacteria. We tell the customer the issue and cost for us to fix and wait for their approval to proceed. If the customer does not give approval (for whatever reason)  There is no service charge. We say thank you and leave.
We do not charge extra for NIGHTS, WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS, OR EMERGENCIES!

The licensed master plumber that was at his tenants home explained what he had found to be the problem,and the cost. We do not breakdown labor cost, Itemize materials cost, etc. Several attempts have been made to explain this to this customer. The reference to what his rental fee is was merely an attempt for him to equate what is business cost (overhead) are with our service costs ( overhead). Before our professional service plumber arrives at his door many cost have already been incurred just to get the plumber and our service truck there, ready and able to complete the job.

This consumer also fails to mention we offered $ 100.00 refund strictly as a customer service satisfaction gesture. Which he turned down. He told us what he thought he thought we should charge and reimburse him the difference.
