I am an veteran who is on an limited monthly income. I paid safe auto insurance company 153.00 down to start my insurance. I explained to them that I get paid on the 1st of every month and would need to change due date. The represenative said that was fine to just call back on the 3rd of January to change due date.

On January 6,2014 I recieve an bill in the mail that states that I owe safe auto 215.00 and it is due by the 10 of January and I must do this to make sure I have continuous coverage. I immediatley called only they were not trying to be forthcoming with me. Yes, I did give all my information in truth when applying for the insurance.

I was transferred to thier supervisor by the name of "Missy". I have tried talking to management level and they are not being forthcoming its almost like they are justifying their bad buisness practices. I e-mailed their marketing department to make them aware of how upset that I was and I wanted an refund of my 153.00 so that I could find an repubtable insurance company.

I am highly upset because  I do not have any gas money to get to my docters appointment because I wanted to make sure that my vehicle was insured. I made sure to let them know that I was also upset because of the "scare tactic" billboard they put up along the city streets billboards that say "Are U Insured ?" as well as other scare tactic insurance billboards that they use and purposley but in certain economic areas. Safe auto still tried to justify their actions. This is so wrong on soooo many levels.

 First Mr.Tyg,

I know your type

A) You probably work for SafeAuto.(its not even your money, or is it since you took time to respond)

B) You get paid to upset consumers who have been cunned

C) You are angry

D) You never made it through boot camp (its okay im sure you did something else with your life)

E)  You never got counseling for how you treated people in the military, now you can't sleep at night.

F) You have came into contact with someone who is an vet and you feel they get an "pass"

Other than that if you are not going to solve the situation (Financially or making an phone call to rectify the situation) then why comment. Tyg, greed is a terrible thing. Be blessed :)

By the way who said I was an man ....BUDDY :)

How is this a ripoff? Im not seeing it. All I see is YET ANOTHER Amirican Citizen who thinks their vet status gives them some special pass on life. You piad 153.00 TO START your insurance. Your next bill was 210.00. How have you been either ripped off or scammed?

The ONLY scamming Im seeing is you attempting to get your way by bringing up your vet status. YOU are demanding your 153.00. Problem is this, ITS ALREADY BEEN APPLIED TOWARDS YOUR INSURANCE!! You may be a vet but Im telling you that youre not very bright. IF they do a refund, then that INVALIDATES your insurance!! Which means that THEY will proactivly put you WITHOUT insurance!! Which means fines and a lose of your drivers liscence. Your states DMV will yank it all!!

You apperantly DID NOT follow the instruction to call on January 3rd. And instead called 3 days later when the bill arrived. Had you called per the instructions given to you , you MAY have averted this whole situation. Either way, your vet status doesnt mean you get a pass. Your vet staus means that the american people are grateful for your service. But the american people also PAY for you to sit and do nothing. You dont get extra privilages on top of that. Youre expecting them to do more for YOU then you either deserve or warrent. You are just another customer.

They have not scammed you, they have not ripped you off. YOU have done both a diservice to YOURSELF and the insurance company. As a military man, you understand the CONCEPT of honor. You have dishonored yourself by lying. Your post reads "Grumpy old solider cant accept the costs" not "Poor vet gets screwed by big insurance" It is neither their PLACE or OBLIGATION to work with you on the date your insurance is due. THEY can only do so much. Your policy pay date IS your policy pay date.

FYI: More often then not most insurance companies will give you about 3-7 days grace period before charging you a late fee. Maybe instead of the whole spiel about you being on a fixed income and you being a vet, you keep it simple. Stick with facts. Its not their JOB to listen to YOUR EXCUSES. Its their JOB to collect the money for your insurance. You are assigning more resposibility to them then they are either paid to do or are qualified to do.
