Sallie mae servicing is the worst company i have ever had to deal with. I was very pleased to find ripoff report and to see that i was not the only person having trouble with this company.

I defaulted on my student loan and it was with sallie mae now diversified collection services has it. I stopped making monthly payments to sallie mae when the balance would never go down and they would not give a definite date of payoff.

The trouble I am having with sallie mae now is proof of my payment history. Sallie mae gave me a number to call for this and it led me in a circle leading me right back to sallie mae.

The New York State Higher Education representative that I disscussed this matter with said sallie mae would have this proof because they had the loan.

Sallie mae still refuses to send me this information. What do I do, who do I talk to for help in this matter. If they do not have to send this to me how will I ever know how much of this debt I really did pay.

Sallie mae and this collection agency just want my money as far as their concerned I'm a nobody and they are a mutimillion dollar company getting away with whatever they can as long as they can. I guess as long as they have been threatening to take my money they can just keep on threatening me I will give them no more information on anything.

Since Sallie mae is not able to send me my proof of payment history, then I'm not able to send them the proof of what they want, such as bank account information. I may me nobody to them, and I may not know the laws about all of this, but I can play this game as long as they want. I will not give this rip off company any more of my money.

If anyone can send me information on who to contact in this situation please do. Sallie mae needs to stop taking advantage

of those of us who do not know what is legal or not legal pertaining to the laws of student loans.

#2Consumer Suggestion

I am dealing with Sallie Mae for my private, career training loan. Do not get this loan. I have learned the hard way. Interest rates are out of control, Sallie Mae won't give me straight ansswers. I have decided to research and write to government officials and voice my concern against Sallie Mae and private educational loans. I have written my complaints to: U.S. Department of Education FSA Ombudsman 830 First Street, NE Fourth Floor Washington, DC 20202-5144. Illinois State Board of Education and to the Governor of Illinois and to Sallie Mae Corporation at: PO Box 470 3000 Lincoln Drive E Suite F Marlton, NJ 08053. If you wish to further investigate I suggest you re-read all of your promissory notes and disclosure information and check out the following to see what applies to your situation: I recommend reading about: 1998 Amendments to the Higher Education Act of 1965 (section a: applicable Interest Rates) found on ED.gov. Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act section 14101. Secondary Education act of 1965. National and Community Act of 1990. There might be other sections which may pertain to your situation if you choose to read further in the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (you can find the amended section at ed.gov) You may also want to read about the FFElp_Inducements (CBA and EFC Issue Joint Statement on Private Education Credit and FFELP (Federal Family Education Loan Program) Inducements. I am not an expert in this field. I have only done research to which applies to my situation. But thought it might be helpful to you. You are not alone.
