Sallie Mae Student Loans turned over to collections-no notice of garnishment of bank accounts Internet
my brother co-signed for a student loan for another sibling. that sibling has avoided all responsbilities. he is now in the army. army advised that the studen loan was to be eliminated when he entered the army. he did not finish school.
my brother awoke last friday morning to both his checking and savings accounts cleaned out without any notice or warning from the collection agent assigned by Salle Mae. he doesn't even know how the collection agency received his bank account information.
the collection agent is EXTREMELY difficult to deal with. Sallie Mae promised to send a copy of the signed contract two months ago to my brother and they have not.
Sallie Mae has been advised on several occassions that the sibling is in the Army but does nothing towards the collection efforts with this information.
we also only know that our brother is in the army stationed at Ft. Sill, OK. we do not know who is commanding officer is or his rank.
my brother is a blue collar worker and doesn't understand all of the finite workings of the business world. the sibling remains non-responsive to his responsbilities. i'm trying to assist.
what is the best advise anyone on this board can advise?
