I own a samsung galaxy s5 16gb , I was having dinner at a restaurant and accidentally a glass of water was spilled over the phone and a few hours after the phone stop working. I contacted samsung electronics to send the unit for inspection since it is still under warranty and after 10 days of been at the factory for inspection they sent the phone back saying the phone was not covered under warranty since it has water damage and it was beyond economical repair . this phone under the samsung specifications claim that is water resistant , it has IP67 certification meaning it can be dropped in water at a depth of no more than 1 meter for less than 30 minutes and the phone would not suffer damage, their commercial everywhere on tv and online shows how the phone is drop in a bucket and also a glass of water is spill over it and someone by the pool showing the phone getting water splashes, now how can they say the phone is not under warranty when they promote the phone and sell it as water resistant, only some water was spilled over the phone and it was dry out immediately , it should have not suffer any damage unless the protection they claim is defective. they don't want to replace the unit or repair it , they just told me plain and simple that they would not cover it . this is a $650 phone and I can not accept this as an answer from them. I would like to have my phone fixed or replace as it is still covered under warranty. I also contacted the better business bureau for assistance and Samsung has totally ignored them after three intents of contact, I believe this is enough reason for a law suit since I am not the only one suffering from this company business practices.

Excerpt from page 9 of your user manual: Ensure that the back and multipurpose jack covers are tightly closed. Otherwise, they may not provide protection from water and dust.

“there is only one cover that need to be closed tightly”

You now know there is more than one cover. You’ll need to purchase a new phone.

Businesses are not required to respond to the BBB; therefore, you cannot sue them for failure to do so.

Oviously you have a lack of knowledge of Samsung products since this phone does not have a cover for the headset to be water resistant and the back cover I have no need to have it removed unless I am taking the Sim or memory card out which I don't do or haven't done since time of installation and when it was done I made sure it was properly resealed .If you are actually a consumer you need to inform yourself better before you make these comments.

The back and headset jack covers must be securely closed in addition to the charging port.

there is only one cover that need to be closed tightly and is the charger port, everytime I remove the charger I made sure is closed correctly as it was the day the water spill.Obviouly is a manufacturer deffect and they should cover it under warranty.
