I went to visit the children's retail store Schneider's on 25 Street in NYC in order to buy a friend who was expecting some baby clothes. It was very important that I find organic clothes that were not made in China as the mother-to-be is very sensitive about this with all of the problems China has been causing of late. I was able to find some items that were organic and so I purchased them. The woman at the cash register even showed me some Haba Toys that she proudly told me were made in Germany and not China. I left the store after spending $100 and realized that though organic several of the items I purchased were made in China, which I could only find out by taking the items out of the packages as where they were made was hidden inside the packaging. I was frustrated and went back to the store to return the items because there was nothing left in the store NOT made in China for children. I very nicely asked the woman at the front desk if she remembered me from an hour earlier and that I was sensitive to buying things from China. She became very defensive and told me that was "my problem". I said to her that I wanted a refund and she told me that I could not have one and that I would have to buy something else in the store. I explained that nothing else in the store was acceptable as all of the clothing was made in China and she ignored me. I asked to speak with the owner. A gruff man who had no place working nor owning a children's clothing store came out and began shouting at me that I was crazy. I calmly explained that I was just in the store an hour ago and that I was buying things for a mom that was very sensitive regarding products made in China and he told me that I was crazy and so was the mom who was sensitive. At this point I wondered aloud how a man like this could ever want to work in children's retail. I asked them to have compassion for the new mom and they told me they did not care about her and that I could either leave or buy something else. My assessment of Schneiders and its owners is that they could just as well be selling hot dogs or tires. They do not care about their customers nor the children that wear or play with the VERY EXPENSIVE items they sell. If you want to have a pleasant experience, DO NOT BUY FROM THESE UNPLEASANT MERCHANTS!

Okay, wow, heard rumblings about Schneiders, now I will definitely skip it!!!

Based upon the comments here I will let everyone know on my Mommy Blog to skip Scheiders. They sound like real creeps!

My friend recommended I visit Scheniders when I was in the city shopping for a baby shower. Bottom line, all that the above complaint states is true and more! They have no knowledge of the products, are rude and they DO NOT GIFT WRAP! Note to those going to a shower, do not pass "GO" and go straight to BabyStyle or even a Babies R Us, the minimum wage employees there know more about the products they are selling than this faux boutique!
