Several years ago I was shopping at Sears and the saleslady ask if I Would like to apply for a Sears MC. I agreed and signed the appication. Several days later I received a letter from the Sears Bank signed by the bank's president thanking me for signing up for Account Care. It blew my mind and made me so mad thatI got on the internet, got the phone # in Tempe, Az. and called the president's office.

Several days later a Citi Bank person called me and ask me to fax him a copy of the letter. Over the course of several months I then had calls from a female lawyer. In the end she sent me a copy claiming I did sign up for Account Care. Someone screwed with it because my signature was identical on three places. Also a box had been checked but not by me.

They fired the lady that signed me up and quit asking the customers if they wanted a Sears MC.

Lo and behold Sears and Citi Bank are up to their old tricks again. I had destroyed the first card so when I was in Sears again recently I again applied for a Sears Gold MC. So what happens? You got it. Again I received a letter thanking me for signing up for AccountCare!

I believe Sears and Citi Bank should be sued over this practice due to the fact there are many people that do not read what appears to be junk mail. Also they can be billed each month and be unaware of additioal charges for AccountCare if they do not read their bill closely. I had to make a call to cancel AccountCare. It is in force if you do not make the call.

I think of the money that could be made nation wide in just one month from this deceptive practice. I am now canceling all cards I have with Sears

All you have to do is read your application. What you don't realize is you cannot expect the cashier to tell you everything your initialling or signing because that's not their job. It's a consumers job to read the application. Therefore if you remember standing in line waiting for your purchase with a line behind you signing up for our card and the cashier said sign here initial here etc.....YOU REALLY DID INITIAL AND SIGN FOR IT. And to think you got a poor woman fired because you didn't read what you were initialling. And if you signed up for one recently the accountcare is the pink box almost at the top of the application that you probably initialed
