I have working in security for some time. and when it was Pinkerton, it wasn't too bad. But when Pinkerton and Burns merged under Securitas things went down hill fast.

When it was Pinkerton, company polices were inforced fairly everywhere. When it became Securitas all company polices were open to interpetation or complete ignoring.

The managers play favorites. There chosen people can get or do anything they want and its OK.

I have reported problems to the HR people and was totally ignored or given some crazy reason why the problem wasn't a problem by their interpetation of policy.

However, when someone reported to HR, anonomously, that I had used foul language on the job, on a two-way radio, the HR dept. swooped in like J. Edgar Hoover's FBI with a full-blown investigation.

After two weeks I was able to proved it to be the lie that it was. I thought that was the end of things but I was wrong.

I was working as a site supervisor and the client contact was a unbelievable a*s, that I never really related to very well. In March 2010 he asked that I be removed from the site. That really didn't bother me that much, because I didn't like the job nor the client. What really upset me is I was replaced by one of "butt-kissing" favorites of the area manager. But so-be-it I swallowed it.

I was then moved to a site in a northern suburb of Cincinnati. I was a fairly long drive, but the pay was $13.00 a hour so I took it. Ther were several "red flags" that this place was going to be weird that I chose to ignore, but shouldn't have.

One, when I talked to the site supervisor, he couldn't tell what exit to get off the interstate. Thankfully I know this area well enough I found it.

Two, the supervisors didn't were a uniform. he wore regular dress clothes like he worked for the client not Securitas.

Three, my second day of training (there was 2 weeks training) the guard I was with told me forget who you work for here you work for the client.

Regardless I ignored it because this was the only opening at the time. Things went to hell fast.

The clients employees were strange. It was like they were royality because they worked for this company. If you followed the post orders they would complain. If you followed "common sense" they would complain.

If that wasn't bad enough, the supervisor made up his own rules. He wrote me up because the other guards didn't like they way I said "hello" or "OK". I was a supervisor, I know the company polices, you can't do that.

The real reason was I was older and had more experience than any of them including the supervisor. Finally, I asked for, and got a transfer to another site.

Here I get along fine with the other guards and the client employees. The difference int the two sites is like night and day.

If I had paid attention to my instincts I never would have gone to that other site.

At the time I wrote the original posting, I was still upset and angry. After time to think over the situation, You are right, I was in the wrong. Therefore I withdraw my complaints. I now realize with both posts to which I refered, I was in over my head. I did not have the abilities to work these places properly. Where i am now little is required so I get a long fine.

Also my reference to time on the job was not aimmed at you. I know you have had a long career.

I have read this complaint and I have to reply to it, first of all I also work for the same company and the same sites that the gentleman complained about. I too was a site supervisor at his previous site. In fact I was the one who started it up when we got the contract. The client contact that he called an "unbelievable a*s" was anything but that when I worked with him. I was site supervisor there for over 2 years and I never had any problems with this client. Yes, he was demanding but no more so than he had the right to be, he had expectation and I worked with him to  meet his expectations and went that extra mile to see that he did not have to worry about any security issues. As a supervisor you have to be flexible and willing to meet the clients request as long as they fall within company guidelines and if there is any question about his request you should contact your branch manager to seek his assistance to make sure that the clients request are fulfilled.

This gentleman was unwilling to meet those expectations and was not flexible enough to understand that we are in a service industry and we are there to provide a service and give the client his money worth. I had a good staff there and we all worked together and met those request. My second problem with his statement is that he stated that he was moved to a site in Cincinnati that he again had a problem with. I happened to work that same site when he was here and he trained with me a few nights. This site is another demanding site, we have to do access control and monitor two separate locations one of which is a plant that contains hazardous material and we have many different duties to do. Yes it seems at times that the things that we are asked to do is repetitive and some of the employees can be asses sometimes but for the most part I don't have any problems with anyone.

And as far as this gentleman saying that he has worked security longer than anyone here he is full of crap, I have been in the security field for almost 30 years and have for the most part enjoyed my job. Yes this company has room for improvement and has the potential to be something in this area but when you look at the alternative of being out of a job you might want to count your blessings that a least you have a job even though it is a pain sometimes.

BUT LET'S SEE HOW LONG IT IS BEFORE THE SAME BACKSTABBING, MIND GAMES, AND OTHER NONSENSE ASSOCIATED WITH THE PRIVATE SECURITY GUARD CONTRACTING SERVICES STARTS UP AGAIN.

IT IS A LOUSY WAY TO MAKE A LIVING. I HAD TO FIGHT LIKE HELL TO STAY EMPLOYED LONG ENOUGH TO QUALIFY FOR SOCIAL SECURITY AND I THINK I WOULD RATHER DRIVE A TRUCK BUT THE WAGES ARE DOWN AND DIESEL COSTS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE...

SECURITAS IS OWNED BY A INTERNATIONAL SECURITY COMPANY IN SWEDEN
AND THOSE UNIFORMS ARE SWEDISH MILITARY SURPLUS. THINK ABOUT THAT!
