This sounds only far too familiar, one contract manager screamed in my face "WELL YOU WANTED THE JOB!" after I got assaulted by a fellow member of staff for turning up late by 8 to 10 minutes. Now people don't leap on you and start trying to give you smack and hiss threats in your ear unless the other staff have egg'd them on! When I threatened to leave.. well that was the response I got from my own manager! No sympathy... Even though he knew I was having problems getting their on time as I lived in an area without transport of any kind, some-time's I used to walk mile's just to get a bus or a train.

by chance is that useless Branch Manager's name William Webb? If so, they just moved his corrupt butt to New York where he continues to be a low-life, non-scrupulous piece of garbage. my own post on him is coming soon as I am in litigation against him.

Where have I heard all this before? Just because a company can issue uniforms, firearms and badges does NOT give them any more authority than a private citizen in Texas. It does not mean that they are prima facie reputable or even honest or honorable. Lies, Intimidation of employees and peopel the client doen't like --under the color of authority of wearing a police-like uniform is the sotck in trade of all security companies.

I've worked in the Security Field for 11 years and I've seen alot of what you say is true, back in August of 2003 after being terminated from my job at a Security Company (based on a bunch of lies) I applied for a Job at Securitus in Huntington W.Va. I was called for the interwiew and sized up for uniforms, I was given a drug test, I was taking medication at the time, but didn't think to inform the clerk who was preforming the test, she didn't ask either, she kept retesting, then she got on the phone with someone and with her hand over her mouth in the reciever told the person that the drug test kept coming back questionable, but nothing was ask of me if I was taking any medication or not, I didn't get the job athough I was told I'd be called when the drug test was confirmed. I then called them and was given the so called run around, after that is when i remembered about the test and the fact that I was taking a perscribed medication.

When I first went to work for security companies back in 1981, the federal government prevented discrimination and forced employers to obey the Equal Opportunity in Employment mandate. Things were good. Then comes along various powerful national leaders who can affect this sort of policy who seemed to believe that n-words, uppedity women and Hispanic groups needed to stay in their places and that was limited to menial, underpaid , dead-end, emotionally deadening work. Described as McJobs. Because I belonged in one of those groups. Things were bad. I read your posting and got rather nostalgic. This is similiar to the same sort of thing they did to me. Now I have to ask you, if you are female, African American, Mexican American ( Latino, if you prefer), Native American or some other minority group? If so, you probably have redress coming. Gay or transgendered? Are you Muslim, Jewish or similiar minority faith and were denied your Holy Days? You had to be or do something that the WASP males you work with did not like. So the harrassment was on! In your case, you called attention to a problem in the company and you brought hell down on the head of the branch manager. He should have been paying attention to the shop! Most of the branch managers I have seen have been too busy stealing whatever, whereverm whenever they could from the companies to give a d**n about their people, much less know what is going on and I am sure there was one *ISSED-OFF client who probably complained to the Branch manager's boss and the sheetletts came down like roaring thunder! And somehow, the trail of evidence went back to YOU! You are supposed to complain anonymously. Maybe you should have called crime stoppers! I know he wouldn't have listened to you and he would have told you to go away. You caused this man a lot of grief and you are going to expect him to LIKE you for it? You might have even cost him some money that he could have stolen. I am not at all surprised that he created a "hostile work environment" for you. You should have had a small tape recorder and capture the verbal harrassment for posterity. It would have helped you in a court case. Assuming your attorneys in CT are more aggressive than the ones we have in TX who just don't care. I don't think you have been doing security work very long, have you? In answer to your questions: 1. It depends on your company policy who gets the promotions. Sometimes seniority ( the most time spent on the post) will get you a promotion BUT they can also promote the person whose professional and academic credentials are the best. If you only have a high school diploma and here comes a military police retiree with 30 years in the service who had worked for the FBI and done investigative work with British cops at Scotland Yard, who do you think is going to get promoted? There is a LOT of favortism involved. If some lady is sleeping wiht someone powerful she will probably get it. If some guy is sleeping with someone powerful, he will probably get it. If someone is related to the person who makes the decisions or is prehaps a hunting buddy or poker playing pal, he or she will probably get it. It seems an extreme case but at the security company where my cousin worked last, there was a guy who was an artist who made thousands of dollars selling his artwork but he liked to do security because he was bored. And some retired military guys like to have security jobs to have something to do and have more money to spend on the grandkids and stuff like that... 2. You were the victim of bad political decisions. As long as nobody blames me for the thefts that the other guy is doing and most importantly he sin't trying to set me up and frame me for them, why should I care? I would report him to crimestoppers, anonymously, from a pay phone somewhere several miles from my house. Then just go on about my job. As to whether or not you were actually discriminated against or not, IF you were the only employee of a company that was predominantly employing WASPS ( White Anglo Saxon ProtestantS) and that company had a tradition of only hiring those kinds of employees and you belong to the kinds of the groups I mentioned above, then, I think you might have a case for discrimination. Based on the facts as given I think hostile work environment would be more appropiate than discrimination because I have no idea what ethnicity, race, religion, color or gender you are. And I would follow up with retaliation from the branch manager because as long as he is in power, you are going to be getting periodic butt chompings until he gets tired, the turmoil subsides and he can go back to allegedly skimming the payroll and the uniform deposits and pocketing forfeited VACATION PAY and all of the other things that they TRADITIONALLY do. (NOTE: I am NOT accusing this branch manager of ANY of THOSE activities because I do not know him and will never know him or work with him, I presume he is a him because most Securitas branch managers in Texas are male and white whereas the people they hired from Pinkerton tend to be African American. Race does not matter, a branch manager is a branch manager!) 3. Since certain politicians took office, whistle blowers are not very well-protected or not appreciated anymore. (Hell, look how many damaging disclosures whistleblowers have already leaked out on certain prominent people.) And you probably won't be! You should have read the Rip-Off report before you EVER thought about working for a private security services contractor! Because most of it is 100 percent TRUE! I hope you will do that from now on. If I were you, before I spent too much time there --the longer you spend there, the more that your future employees are going to ask from your present employer. YOU ARE ONLY PLAYING WITH YOUR ENTIRE LIFE HERE! Since the job market is so competitive, it has become a lot easier for employers NOT to hire you and blacklisting. although illegal as hell, is increasing for "problem employees." A problem employee is anybody that makes troubles for the company and particuliarl the very individual you might have to rely on for a job reference someday! Start by sending out some resumes. Lots of them ---while you are still employed there. Try another industry before you get too encumbered with bills, family, auto payments, etc. Something that pays better where you will get some respect and be able to feed yourself and your family now and in the future years to come.
