I have been contacted by the Seelye Researcch Center, by mail, with a check from Seelye Construction, in the amount of $3,998.00. The addresses on the letter and the check are different. I called the number on the check and the phone was answered by someone giving the name of Sarah Willis to be known as my Representative. She gave me all the details which were noted in the complaint above (Walmart $40.00, Money Gram $3,430.00, $128.00 money gram fee and $400.00 as my salary). IF I complete my assignment in one day I would be given a bonus of $250.00, I was to report to them any questions I was asked at the Money Gram counter, which was the main target. Supposedly they are trying to catch money laundrying people or Terriosits sending money back to their Country.
I took the letter and the check to my bank and they did verify that it was a scam and they would investigate and asked to keep the check and the letter. They informed me that IF I did cash the check I would be liable for the funds if the check came back as insuffiecient funds which more than likely it would. So my account would be short $3,998 and they would be pocketing that amount from my account.
They really do sound convincing and such an easy way to make money. My next salary would have been $650.00 for 3 months and then $800 per week for the next 6 months.
I am filing this report so that any one else that receives this "Scam" information will report it and hopefully they will catch the individuals doing it.
