September of 2015, my husband became unemployed due to circumstances beyond his control. At that time my mortgage payment was $777. I contacted SPS to request a loan modification. They told me what to send and said that if I didn't think I could make payments during the decision period that was fine. Waited for their decision and when I got it I was shocked to see a repayment plan that was twice the amount of my normal payment and the appraisal of my property had so many wrong things, they took a picture of the outside, never bothering to knock on my door and ask me about the property. I called them and turned down the repayment plan and then I get a letter stating that I'm in default and to make an appointment with a credit counseling company to fill out a HAMP application.
Filled out the application, SPS continued to call, tape letters to my door saying they were trying to contact me, and sending the Act 91 letters, 2 in my name, 2 in my husband's name, and the same, only registered mail. HAMP application was denied, I appealed, more info was requested from me, so now I'm waiting to see if they approve it this time. I'm only 2 months behind but I feel SPS is doing whatever they can to get extra money out of me. They sent me a letter saying due to my modification, my interest rate was going from 5 something to 11 something. I sent them a note saying I had no modification and my mortgage was a fixed rate. They haven't called me about that yet. I continue to send them monthly payments of $650 since that is what my payment was before they said they were raising my interest rate. Wondering if I should call them and try to make payment arrangements.
